ZOA – Uganda is seeking to recruit a Senior Project Officer who will be responsible for implementation, monitoring and supervision of project field activities mainly focusing on youth agribusiness skills development in Yumbe.
S/He will build the capacity of the POs to carry out training of TOTs and Youth. S/he will work closely with OPM, UNHCR and local leadership structures of both refugees and host communities (sub-county agricultural officers, community development officers, LCs, RWCs, religious and traditional leaders) in regard to youth enterprise development.
The Senior Project Officer will ensure that the approved activities are implemented, monitored and reported according to agreed plans.
Major responsibilities:
Facilitate in the implementation of youth skills development through training of youth groups in ERI/PAED approach
Supervise Project officers to carry out the PAED, VSLA and business skills training for the selected youth groups and build their capacity through mentoring and coaching.
Organizing weekly field planning meetings with Project officers to guide routine implementation
Working closely with OPM, UNHCR and other actors in actively addressing youth skills development in production, processing and marketing issues.
Works closely with leadership structures of both refugees and host communities (Sub-county agricultural officers, Community development officers, LCs, RWC, religious and traditional leaders) over Agribusiness development
Represent the Project in Zonal livelihood working group meetings.
Monitor and compile the report on the project progress on a monthly, quarterly basis and carry out monthly Project Implementation Plan reviews
Provide relevant information and
data for writing quarterly and annual reports
Stimulates good team spirit and Christian Values among field staff and partners
Document and submit quarterly stories on individual youth’s progress in the community
Implements activities as described in the project proposal based on ZOA’s country policy
Perform any other role assigned by the Supervisor
Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum 4 years professional work experience in Agribusiness development work.
Degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture or any other related field.
Work experience in a refugee setting is a plus.
Excellent facilitation, communication skills and writing ability.
Competence in Agribusiness planning and profitability analysis.
Knowledge of West Nile context and language spoken in West Nile is an added advantage.
Knowledge on Participatory Agro-Enterprise Development (PAED) is a plus.
Additional Requirements:
Excellent spoken and written English
Ability to work in an environmentally harsh area
Self-motivator, having the ability to work with limited supervision
Able to give transparent accountability
Ability to ride a motorcycle with a valid driving/riding license (must)
