In line with our commitment to bring on board qualified, skilled and motivated team members, we are seeking to recruit suitably qualified candidate for the below position; Online Learner Support – ZDS
The main objective of the position holder is to support the integration, retention, transition, and progression of ZDS students and to ensure students have a positive experience at each step in their online studies.
The position will provide a distinct and accessible point of contact for ZDS students, answering them when possible, offering support, and acting as a referral service.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director – ZDS, the position holder will be responsible for the following, amongst others:
Coordination between ZDS students and their facilitators.
Ensure that all Unit Notes, CATs, and Assignments are posted on the portal on time.
Ensure communication of deadlines and procedure for registration of units to ZDS students
Ensure communication of Exams timetable to ZDS students; following up to solving clashing timetables, and ensuring that all ZDS courses on offer are timetabled.
Build stable, secure, and attractive web applications based on predetermined specifications.
Innovative ideas and applications that will integrate with the LMS.
Maintaining the LMS serving several users and supporting all on-site and off-site Moodle System Users.
Create user accounts and communicate user login credentials.
Manage user cohorts and groups on the LMS.
Create Module spaces for content experts to upload their
module content on the LMS.
Train users on using the LMS.
Allocate Units to all students according to their respective courses.
Respond to student enquiries or messages on the portal.
Ensure all communication to students is made via the portal.
Ensure CATs and Assignments are posted on the portal in time by the facilitators.
Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualification & Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/ Information Technology / Bachelor of Education in Educational Technology or any other recognized equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.
A motivated self-starter.
Capable of working independently and committed to working collaboratively with a range of colleagues from across the university.
The post holder’s interpersonal skills will be key to their success in engaging students.
Understanding of course /programs requirements, examinations bodies requirements, and procedures.
Ability to use advanced computer skills excel, emails, word, etc.
Good analytical and reporting skills.
Good understanding of University procedures and standards.
Understanding of CUE operations.
Understanding of University ISO procedures and standards.
