Sparked by evidence exclusion of youth in spheres of life and fuelled by a passion for the ‘total’ youth, YAA mission is to make the youth factor count by influencing,linking and enhancing youth access to social, economic,cultural and political opportunities.
Job Summary
Youth Agenda is looking for a Monitoring and Communications Officer who will be responsible
for monitoring programme interventions, documenting and communicating processes and
impact with youth and stakeholders.
The Monitoring and Communications Officer
Duties and Responsibilities will include:
Developing an efficient reporting and monitoring system for Youth Agenda interventions;
Tracking and documenting achievement of results,challenges,lessons learnt from Youth Agenda’s interventions regularly and preparing presentations based on M&E data as required;
Coordinating reflection, learning and review meetings;
Coordinating, generating and sharing programmes monthly success stories internally and with external stakeholders including donors;
Designing and implementing management information systems including media relations (social and mainstream);
Responsible for coordinating and maintaining YAA knowledge generation and management;
In coordination with the other programme staff, strengthen Youth Agenda’s database
and coordination with other actors(governmental and NGO) engaged in Kenya and abroad;
Coordinating and organising YAA events that are of high standards both in terms of participants, resource people, logistics, media coverage, availability of materials among other PR provisions.; and
Contribute to fundraising efforts for this unit and function
Personal Specification
Candidates must have in their possession a University degree in any of the following
disciplines:Public Policy,Law,Communication, Sociology,Political Science or related
field;
Postgraduate qualifications in a
related field is an added advantage;
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in project design and management with professional
experience in the field of project monitoring/ evaluation and reporting in an NGO
Understanding of youth issues/sectors and experience in Youth Engagement Programming
Excellent writing skills and the ability to write various types of documents including
articles,press statements,position papers, information materials, proposals and donor
reports;
Strong general public relations skills;
Analytical Thinking and Decisive Judgment;
Experience of working in complex and politically-sensitive contexts,and excellent political, economic and social judgement;
Ability to work in a non-partisan manner, sensitivity to ethnic and cultural differences;
A team player:able to demonstrate a constructive, cooperative and problem-solving
approach;
Candidates must be below 35 years of age
Terms of Employment
A competitive remuneration will be provided commensurate to the qualifications of the
successful candidate.
The Monitoring and Communication Officer will be based in Nairobi with regular duty travels to
the counties of operations
