Job Details: Young Africa (YA) Zambia is a Non-Governmental Organisation that provides high quality Technical and Vocational Training, Entrepreneurship and Life skills training to vulnerable youths in Zambia between the ages of 15 to 25.

Job Description
The Program Officer is responsible for overseeing vocational training and is a direct point of contact to trainers.
The key roles of the Program Officer are overseeing training and assuring its quality.
This position requires excellent communication skills and knowledge of how to support the improvement of vocational and skills training. .
Main Duties and Responsibilities
• Work as part of the management team, provide input into reports and reporting
• Create linkages with relevant Stakeholders related to training, courses and accreditation
• To provide information and advice to students to enable them make informed choices for their education
• Take a lead to ensure that training targets are met
• Lead innovation efforts aimed at consistent improvement of training quality and delivery mechanisms
• Provide ongoing support and supervision to trainers and franchisees in training aspects (training, schemes of work, lesson plans, student records, examinations)
• Review lessons, develop lesson plans and undertake lesson observations
• Compile training reports and support trainers on teaching methodologies, undertake training to improve teaching practice for trainers
• Ensure good
communication, timely submission of reports and quality outputs
• Identify courses for expansion purposes
• Develop/improve curricula and course content for TEVT courses including obtaining accreditation for courses
• Develop training schedules for learning
• Identify and recommend for recruitment franchisees to run the training units
• Orient and train franchisees including providing training support for trainers
• Oversee student registration, student orientation, student welfare, counselling including managing student data for M & E
• Post-graduation follow up of Young Africa students
• Secure student internships for work experience exposure with companies /SMEs, reporting and follow ups including managing the records
• Additional tasks based on organizational needs.

Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field with 5+ years relevant work experience
• Experience coaching teachers and/or trainers for professional development
• Ability to use online eLearning platforms
• Experience with curriculum development for vocation and skills training
• Ability to manage partnerships with other stakeholders
• Proven work experience in vocational training
• Ability to build effective working relationships and present diplomatic solutions to obstacles encountered
• Tech skills: Typing, E-mail, Word, Excel, scanning, punctuality, reliability and attention to detail
• Exceptionally organized with strong time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to manage competing priorities inherent in a non-profit organization.
