Job SummaryTo drive WWF Uganda assigned vehicles safely and efficiently as per the logistics and fleet guidelines in support to implementation of conservation work in the designated operational areas.
Key Responsibilities:
The post holder will be responsible for accomplishing the following:
Transport staff and implementing partners with designated vehicles according to approved routes, schedules and guiding policies.
Delivers supplies and parcels to agreed locations in a timely manner
Ensures sound mechanical condition especially preventive maintenance for the vehicle and notifies supervisor on timely service and repairs
Participates in loading and offloading of materials for transportation to the different locations
Ensures a clean and safe vehicle condition and cleans it as required with facilitation from supervisor
Ensures Uganda traffic code is followed adequately to the safety of self and other road users
Ensures mileage and fuel log sheets are filled all the time for accountability purposes on vehicle utilisation.
Maintains a smart appearance while on duty for organisational visibility
Communicate to supervisor o matters arising from field work for proper handling including emergencies.
Ensures liability waiver is signed for no staff to utilise the company vehicles and submits this to the supervisor at the end of each month.
Financial Responsibilities:
No direct financial responsibility but must ensure accountability for proper vehicle utilization all the time
People Management Responsibilities:
Give an overview of the people management responsibilities of the job, including responsibility to provide care
The position holder must interact with implementing partners, staff and project beneficiaries in a respectful, friendly and must establish and maintain a good working relationship.
Corporate/Local Responsibilities & Requirements:
The job holder must at all times carry out their responsibilities with due regard to the WWF Policies and procedures:

Finance and procurement policies
Fraud and Corruption policy
Code of conduct
Health & Safety Policy
Information technology policy and confidentiality policy
Job descriptions should be reviewed on a regular basis and at the annual appraisal. Any changes should be made and agreed between post holder and line manager

All staff are required to act professionally, co-operatively and flexibly in line with the requirements of the post and the WWF.
Person Specification
Education / Qualifications / Training required:
Essential: At least Ordinary level certificate with a Valid Drivers’ Licence with Classes B, CM, & DL. .
Desirable: Knowledge of vehicle mechanics and defensive driving is
an added advantage
Previous work experience required:
Essential:
At least five years of experience in a busy fleet section supporting project implementation.
Training in vehicle mechanics is a requirement
Training in defensive driving and off road is an added advantage.
Experience of working in a remote multi-cultural environment
Desirable:
Knowledge and training in first aid at the work place
Technical knowledge or skills:
Defensive driving skills
First aid and firefighting training
Knowledge of vehicle mechanics would be an added advantage
Ability to work under pressure with running long journeys
Excellent inter-personal skills, including the ability to develop and maintain strong internal and external relationships relevant to position.
Excellent oral and written communication skills in English;

Working Relationships
Internal:
WWF UCO: Works closely with the Fleet and logistics Manager, Project managers, Coordinators, and operations staff.
External: I
Interacts with Toyota Uganda, Service Providers and different government departments and implementing partners.
