PURPOSE OF POSITION:

In connection with the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) group, this position provides leadership for a global compliance function including the creation and execution of a clear mandate. The Director will be expected to understand and evaluate WVI’s unique organizational environment, and apply a deep understanding of technical compliance principles to develop a new function that will deliver an effective organization-wide compliance program. To accomplish these goals, the Director will need to possess a strong understanding of compliance best practices, and be able to exhibit creativity and strategic thinking in designing and implementing a function that will serve the organization’s needs. The Director will be expected to act as a champion for implementing a culture of compliance in the organization. In particular, challenging existing negative perceptions of the compliance field and articulating the benefits and value that a compliance practice can bring to WVI. This should include designing and implementing processes around policy rationalization, application of policies throughout field offices, and the development of a network of compliance champions at all levels of the organization. The position will be expected to partner with leadership across the organization to put in place and embed the necessary structures and processes to enable compliance activities and monitoring. Lastly, the position will be responsible at a high level to ensure leadership maintains visibility on the effectiveness of the organization’s compliance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a global compliance mandate and function to outline and define compliance as a new function in WVI.
  • Build a network of partners and compliance champions throughout the organization to advance the key initiatives of the compliance function.
  • Design and embed the structures and processes necessary to ensure compliance activities are occurring in offices and entities throughout the Partnership, enabling leadership to maintain accountability.
  • Develop and deliver regular reporting to senior leadership and/or the Board on the effectiveness of the compliance program, highlighting any significant gaps requiring intervention.
  • Act as a leader among external businesses and NGO community, ensuring that WV’s compliance function is seen as the benchmark for other organizations. Within the context of Compliance practitioners and networking groups, act as a leader in developing sharing innovative best practices in place in World Vision.

    Requiremeents

  • Bachelor degree in finance, business, project management, security or related discipline.
  • 10+ years of work experience leading a compliance programme or related function.
  • Membership and leadership in a global compliance institute/organization.
  • Well-developed leadership and communication skills.
  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies that produce results.
  • Knowledge and experience is setting strategic goals, measures of success and priorities.
  • Ability to align cross-functional strategic priorities.
  • Knowledge and experience in managing a compliance function.

    Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee the program implementation.
  • Manage program budget.
  • Identify and promote clear communication on issues of budget management and programmatic activities, compliance and documentation.

    Requirements

  • Master’s degree in related field or equivalent qualifications in grant management and work history in developing countries.
  • Minimum of 7 years of overseas international management experience, preferably in administering USDA and/or USAID program, with at least 3 years of experience overseeing USG Title II food aid programs.
  • Proven ability to manage technical assistance teams and sub-grants.
  • Experience of leading large and diverse teams.
  • Experience in leading and managing large grants in a
    complex environment.
  • Experience as a CoP/PD or senior expert advisor required.
  • Experience managing sub grants and contracts under grants for complex projects.
  • Fluency in English, knowledge of Amharic is desirable.
  • Professional licenses, as required in the field and by the donor.

    World Vision NGO Project Manager Jobs in Ethiopia

    Responsibilities:

  • Facilitates development of the work plans and budget, ensuring ownership and agreement across the stakeholders.
  • Oversees and monitors implementation of the Ending Violence and Child Rights Now plans and ensures the groups’ delivery of agreed actions and Work Plan activities.
  • Liaises with the national focal point persons for the two projects.
  • Facilitates relations and communications across and between the two groups, and with the CEOs of the six supporting organisations.
  • Coordinates regular communications for both groups that enable timely sharing of information.
  • Facilitates the production of papers (Concept Notes, ToRs, etc.).
  • Prepares presentations and any other public and/or internal engagement to present the work and results of the group.
  • Calls attention of both chairpersons in case of conflicting messages/instructions, load issues etc. relating to the project manager and her/his staff.

    Requirements

  • Education to Bachelor’s degree level; Masters degree in a relevant field an advantage
  • Extensive project management experience in a complex organizational setting
  • Relevant experience in the development, humanitarian, human rights or child rights sector, or a related sector
  • A high level of written and spoken communication skills
  • Experience of working in multicultural environments, participation in networks and coalitions, and working effectively in non-hierarchical setting
  • Understanding of multi stakeholder funding processes, and an ability to manage them and transparently report on them (in cooperation with finance experts from the six organizations if required)
  • Excellent written and spoken English. Other languages are an asset, but not a prerequisite

    World Vision NGO Partnership Leader Jobs in Ethiopia

    Duties

  • Engage with influential external stakeholders on the key issues affecting children as identified in Our Promise 2030.
  • Ensure that all senior leaders have appropriate external engagement plans for themselves and their teams.
  • Proactively support the President’s external engagement.
  • Lead ‘It takes a World’ & demonstrates global campaign strategy momentum and impact: Continue to build internal support, momentum of and cross partnership ownership of the campaign.
  • Continue to develop external support for and impact of the campaign through building broad coalitions with all potential partners that can contribute to ending violence against children.
  • Ensure the campaign is mostly with and by children and not only for children.
  • Support the Global Partnership to end violence.

    Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in international studies or relevant field;
  • A minimum of 10 years leadership and operational experience in international relief and development activities; at least five (5) years direct Advocacy/External Engagement experience in a senior advocacy role or as a national director with a strong focus on External Engagement;
  • Strong understanding of and experience in international development and key current policy debates;
  • Strong knowledge of the child rights agenda and Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development;
  • Demonstrated track record at global level of external influence and of establishing and leading strategic partnerships;
  • Very strong organizational leadership that enables post holder to have a “whole of partnership” view and not just a narrow sectoral view;
  • Excellent communications skills, including as a representative of World Vision in external forums and as a media spokesperson;
  • Successful track record of functioning effectively at senior levels across large and complex multinational organizations (C-suite level);
