World Vision International NGO Partnership Leader (V.P.) Advocacy & External Engagement Jobs in Uganda
The Partnership Leader Advocacy & External Engagement - (PL A&EE) will provide overall leadership and strategic oversight to our Advocacy and External Engagement across the partnership engaging heavily in both internal and external components of this work. This highly influential role is critical to delivering key aspects of World Vision’s first ever global strategy – Our Promise 2030. The post holder will champion Strategic Imperative #3 of Our Promise 2030 “Collaborating and advocating for broader impact: Changing from largely working on our own, in our way, to partnerships, joint ventures and advocacy with those who share our goals”
Responsibilities
Engage with influential external stakeholders on the key issues affecting children as identified in Our Promise 2030.
Ensure that all senior leaders have appropriate external engagement plans for themselves and their teams.
Proactively support the President’s external engagement.
Lead ‘It takes a World’ & demonstrates global campaign strategy momentum and impact: Continue to build internal support, momentum of and cross partnership ownership of the campaign.
Continue to develop external support for and impact of the campaign through building broad coalitions with all potential partners that can contribute to ending violence against children.
Ensure the campaign is mostly with and by children and not only for children.
Support the Global Partnership to end violence.
Lead Strategic Initiative (SI 3.2); Equip and support National Offices:
Engage effectively in cross-sector partnerships and platforms to achieve their child well-being objectives and contribute to Sustainable Development Goals.
Ensure Partner of Choice initiative and partnership brokering and facilitation support services are contributing to a significant increase in partnering effectiveness.
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in international studies or relevant field;
A minimum of 10 years leadership and operational experience in international relief and development activities; at least five (5) years direct Advocacy/External Engagement experience in a senior advocacy role or as a national director with a strong focus on External Engagement;
Strong understanding of and experience in international development and key current policy debates;
Strong knowledge of the child rights agenda and Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development;
Demonstrated track record at global level of external influence and of establishing and leading strategic partnerships;
Very strong organizational leadership that enables post holder to have a “whole of partnership” view and not just a narrow sectoral view;
Excellent communications skills, including as a representative of World Vision in external forums and as a media spokesperson;
Successful track record of functioning effectively at senior levels across large and complex multinational organizations (C-suite level);
Proven ability to be a risk taker – ability to make timely tough decisions on when and how to speak out and when to advocate more discreetly;
Exceptional relational, negotiating and cross cultural skills that develop trust and enable achievement of job objective, both internally and externally;

World Vision International NGO National Director, WV Jobs in Uganda
To strategically lead, develop and direct the implementation of all aspects of World Vision Ministry as an effective member of the World Vision Partnership in line with Twin Citizenship principles to ensure high Ministry quality and impact. The National Director takes overall responsibility and is accountable for all aspects of WV’s work in Uganda.
Responsibilities
Ensure that WV Uganda functions in a complementary, cohesive manner where the principles of Interdependence and Twin Citizenship
guide the contribution made to the Partnership and the use of WV Partnership resources.
Ensure that WV Uganda actively participates in scheduled Peer Reviews and that Board and Staff are sufficiently prepared to participate meaningfully. Take ownership for appropriate action planning and execution of Peer Review recommendations.
Lead process of policy development/ contextualization and reviews to facilitate WV work and regularly update Board on status of policy implementation.
Provide ongoing review and development of the WV National Office strategy, and of individual programme objectives to ensure continuous alignment with the partnership strategy- “Our Promise 2030”.
Ensure excellent standards in the management of the human, financial, capital and technical resources of the organization, which includes inspiring and maintaining high standards of work and clear accountability to all stakeholders.
Lead and manage the National office team in a way that facilitates a high performance culture and “Our Promise 2030” mindsets and behaviors.
Ensure capable staff are recruited in a timely manner to implement office strategy and ensure that there is accountability for staff performance.
Ensure that the office has robust succession plans that are executed, regularly updated and shared with the Board.
Direct and lead teams in management of diverse, strategic and time sensitive projects (e.g. infrastructural construction/renovation, staff re-structuring etc.).
Qualifications
Master’s Degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Organizational Management, Leadership, Strategic Planning or related disciplines preferred.
An additional qualification in Resource Mobilization would be a plus.
Strong understanding of Human Rights approaches and particularly Child Rights.
Understanding of Advocacy execution, national advocacy strategy development and leading advocacy campaigns.
Ability to nurture relationships, build strong teams and hold staff accountable so as to drive organizational performance.
Good knowledge of financial management and budgetary control principles.
Ability to organize and lead fundraising/resource mobilization efforts with major private donors, corporate organizations and governments, as well as to secure donor funding and sustainably grow organizational financial portfolio.
Clear communicator with ability to present persuasively to Board, Senior Management Team, staff, donors, NGOs, government officials, community leaders and other stakeholders and partners.
Versatility with use of new communication technologies and platforms to engage a variety of audiences, and/or able to supervise in this area.
Committed Christian appreciative of denominational diversities and differences in Christian traditions, with a strong passion for Children wellbeing.
Comfortable with working with multi-cultural teams, gender aware and with well-developed interpersonal skills.
Familiarity and willingness to abide by the NGO Red Cross Code of Conduct, the People in Aid Code and Sphere Minimum Standards.
