Job Description:The Economic Inclusion Lead will provide technical support to the staff and partners of the Mastercard Foundation in Ethiopia to implement their Refugees and Displaced Persons strategy. The Advisor will work closely with the Regional Economic Inclusion Manager and in collaboration with WUSC teams, the Youth Engagement and Inclusion Partner in the Mastercard Foundation, and the Foundation’s partners.
Responsibilities:
Support in the co-creation of concept notes, review of EOIs, and the co-creation of proposals to provide a Refugee and Displaced Persons lens to the staff and partners of the Mastercard Foundation in Ethiopia in the development of Young Africa Works programming.
Support the country Foundation office in reviewing quarterly reports partners and provide feedback and follow-up.
Support the Higher Education Coordinator in planning for Scholars Program activities in Ethiopia including awareness-raising events, information sessions, potential scholars’ recruitment drives, stakeholder engagements, etc.
In collaboration with the Regional Economic Inclusion Manager and the Youth Engagement and Inclusion partner from the Foundation, conduct Partner RDP inclusion assessments with Young Africa Works partners, and develop and implement capacity-strengthening plans with assessed partners to promote RDP youth inclusion in the partners’ work.
Support the design, development, and delivery of resources and training for Young Africa Works staff and partners in Ethiopia, to ensure RDP inclusion in the identified economic sectors.
Support the Mastercard Foundation Ethiopia country office in the development of RDP-specific Partnerships, engage relevant stakeholders for the implementation of the RDP strategy in Ethiopia, and maintain relationships with Young Africa Works staff and partners.
Support Foundation team members and partners to feature RDP at events, including WRD, learning workshops,
stakeholder convenings, and RDP youth meetings to share learnings on the Ethiopian RDP context.
Work with the Refugee-Led Organizations (RLO) Lead to execute WUSC’s RLO set of work in Ethiopia geared towards RLO strengthening to promote job-creation for youth in Ethiopia.
Track progress on RDP work in Ethiopia by supporting in documenting and reporting of impact, lessons learned, and promising practices and sharing learning across the Young Africa Works network.
Perform any other duties assigned by the Youth Engagement and Inclusion Partner (Mastercard Foundation-Ethiopia) and the Regional Economic Inclusion Manager (WUSC).
Qualifications:
The ideal applicant will have technical expertise in economic programming including, durable solutions for refugees, vocational and technical training, support to entrepreneurs and businesses), a familiarity with the Ethiopia refugee context, the ability to get things done, and strong organization, coordination, and communication skills.
At a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree in a related field (International Development, Project Planning and Management, Development Studies, Social Work, Public Policy, International Relations, Refugee Studies);
A minimum of 7+ years of experience in development cooperation, technical assistance projects; education, and youth employment in Ethiopia,
