As the P4G Regional Manager for Africa, you will play a key role in the development and implementation of cutting-edge public-private partnerships to advance market-based solutions to green growth, and in managing the engagement of P4G countries in Africa, including Ethiopia, Kenya and South Africa. You will coordinate closely with P4G Global Hub based in Washington, DC, to mobilize the proactive participation of the P4G Africa network in major events such as the P4G Summit and major outputs such as the State of Art Report and P4G Awards.
You will also work with international consultants contracted by the P4G Global Hub to provide strategic support on partnership development, as well as P4G global organizational partners including the World Resources Institute (WRI) Africa Regional Country Office to maximize synergies and coordination of effort.
This is a two-year assignment based in Addis Ababa, with the possibility of extension. The Regional Manager will be housed within the WRI Africa Regional Office.
Responsibilities
Facilitate the development and implementation of public-private partnerships in support of SDGs within P4G partner countries
Engage stakeholders to develop a pipeline of innovative partnerships to create and/or accelerate market-based solutions to advance SDG and NDC implementation based upon national priorities and plans
Support P4G national platforms in convening workshops to promote the P4G Partnership Fund call for proposals and facilitate proposal development
Provide program management and oversight of selected P4G partnerships within the region
Liaise with stakeholders including national government representation in P4G partnerships
Ensure coordination between government ministries on P4G partnerships, the SDGs and NDCs
Facilitate and coordinate partner country engagement in P4G activities
Serve as primary contact between the National Platform, P4G partnerships and Global Hub
Coordinate country participation in P4G events such as: P4G Summit, Board meetings, etc
Coordinate country input on P4G products including P4G State-of-the-Art reports and communications materials
Work with national platforms to develop annual P4G country workplans aligned with global workplan
Build the P4G network in partner countries and
with P4G partner organizations
Promote green growth and P4G
Represent P4G in regional events relevant to P4G
Support P4G workshops organized by the National Platforms as appropriate on national engagement on green growth and/or SDG financing
Requirements
Minimum of 5 years of relevant, full-time work experience working with the private sector on developing, evaluating, financing or implementing business opportunities
Master’s degree in relevant field, i.e. business, finance, international development, development studies preferred (or bachelor's degree with two+ additional years of relevant experience)
International experience across at least two country contexts with specific experience working with developing countries implementing green growth. Experience in Ethiopia and/or Africa a plus.
Experience engaging with government officials of developing countries and working in multi-stakeholder groups, with the private sector, as well as experience working with international development and/or finance agencies
Demonstrated knowledge or expertise in one or more of P4G’s technical sectors is desired. These include: Food and Agriculture, Energy, Water, Cities, and the Circular Economy.
Experience working in challenging, cross-sectoral, multi-cultural, fast-paced environments and ability to work independently are a must.
Superb interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work collegially with others and with the highest standards of integrity
Excellent communications and organizational skills required.
Fluency in English in written and oral communications required. Fluency in Amharic and French is a plus.
