1. WFP Site Maintenance Assistant - (Rapid Response Technician) Jobs in Uganda

We are seeking qualified individuals for the position of Site Maintanence Assistant (Rapid Response Technician) at SC2 level, to be based in Tororo, Uganda. Selected candidate will be employed on Service Contract.

Organizational Context

This job is found in various WFP Offices. The Job holder report to the Logistics Officer or the designate, and is likely to follow established standard procedures to carry out routine site maintenance tasks.

They typically work under close guidance and receive clear instructions and feedback on work outputs from the supervisor. This job requires a good physical fit to lift and handle heavy items and work in all types of weather conditions wearing protective clothing.

Job Purpose

To perform routine site maintenance tasks to support safe, comfortable and reliable working environment.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

Provide basic site maintenance and installation work (e.g. Generators, water pumps, water heaters, Mobile storage units, etc.) including carpentry work and basic site repairs ensuring well-functioning equipment.

Provide portaging and cleaning services (e.g. moving assets, reorganizing /installing workstations, assisting in setting up conference/meeting/event locations, removing waste materials, emergency cleaning, etc.), to facilitate organized and safe work environment.

Contribute to keeping accurate inventory records through physical check and maintenance of lists/database and arrange disposal of identified equipment and materials, strictly following supervisor’s instructions and WFP assets management guidelines.

Report on works undertaken, services provided, materials used for installations/repairs including accurate generator fuel log books, to support accurate accounting.

Notify supervisor of dangerous situations or potential issues that may arise while in the filed or office.

Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: A Uganda Certificate of Education

Experience: Two or more years of related experience in site maintenance and basic record keeping.

Knowledge & Skills:

• Knowledge of simple machine operations and use of cleaning materials/ solutions.
• Ability to operate and maintain equipment and supplies in good working order.
• Knowledge of safety precautions.
• High sense of responsibility and punctuality.
• Honesty and integrity.
• Ability to work in a multicultural environment.
• Ability to work in a team.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.

Language: Fluency (level C) in the UN language in use at the duty station and in the duty station’s language, if different.

2. World Food Programme Logistics Officer - SC8 Jobs in Uganda

We are seeking qualified individual for the position of Logistics Officer at SC8 level, to be based at the WFP Warehouse in Nalukolongo - Kampala. Selected candidate

will be employed on Service Contract.

Organizational Context

This job is found at the Country Offices (COs). The Job holder is likely to be working closely with a more experienced professional staff member receiving guidance and regular feedback on work performed.

Job Purpose

The job holder will be required to take over the Management of warehouses and to provide support to the CDPs and the field offices, manage food quality, ensure warehouse safety, monitor the pipelines and ensure proper space and transport planning, provide reports and guidance to the unit and other client units.

Key Accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

Participate in the development and implementation of procedures for logistics field operations ensuring that objectives are achieved in compliance with the CO’s and functional strategies, policies and plans;

Collect and analyse relevant technical data from diverse sources to forecast operational needs under various scenarios and make evidence-based proposals;

Implement operational warehouse procedures and normative guidance in order to manage WFP’s Warehouse, handle inventory effectively through corporate systems, and ensure loss mitigation;

Coordinate logistics, warehouse management support services within Uganda and the region and ensure accurate processes for timely payments to vendors;

Conduct regular financial analysis and budget reviews, drawing out insights and recommending actions to senior staff to optimise use of available funds;

Plan, organise and supervise the work of more junior staff to ensure that tasks are accomplished in a manner consistent with the organizational requirements;

Gather market intelligence through research and networking, thus improving the knowledge basis available to Country Offices, Region and the Programme, and process and analyse proposals in line with WFP standard rules and regulations in order to deliver efficiently;

Build relationships and collaborate with counterparts in the key supply chain functions to ensure an integrated supply chain approach to food assistance;

Prepare accurate and timely accounting, data collection and reporting, to inform supply planning and contribute to a WFP wide view of logistics activities, enabling informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders;

Liaise with internal and external stakeholders and consolidate preliminary data analysis, prepare accurate and timely reports to support a WFP-wide view of logistics activities that enables informed decision making;

Provide technical advice and guidance to WFP staff, partners and governments, building capacity to connect to markets, manage food systems and deliver food assistance to those in need;

Identify and build productive relationships and partnerships with counterparts in UN agencies, NGOs, governments and the private sector to share knowledge and resources and ensure coordinated delivery of food assistance;

Contribute to preparedness actions, prepare CO Logistics Capacity Assessment (LCA), provide technical recommendations and guidance and monitoring the management of specific logistics risks to enable WFP to quickly respond and deploy food and resources at the onset of the crisis;

Act in an assigned emergency response capacity as required to meet emergency food assistance needs;

Any other assignment as deemed necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: University degree or a First University degree with additional years of experience in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or any other related field.

National Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language and the duty station’s language, if different.

Desired Experiences for Entry into the Role

• Experience coordinating service providers’ contract execution.
• Experience arranging supplier deliveries and the discharge of WFP vessels (rail, air, or sea).
• Experience in evaluating offers and writing proposals.
• Experience in report writing.
