Whave Solutions Chief Finance and Operations Manager Jobs in Uganda

We are currently seeking candidates to fill the role of Chief Finance and Operations Manager (Karamoja) to head our team in northern Uganda, where we work currently in two districts (Kaabong and Kotodo) with imminent expansion to Amudat and Moroto, in partnership with Mercy Corps under the USAID-funded program APOLOU. Other Whave operations in the area are included in the scope of work, as and when they are developed (none currently).

Whave Solutions Chief Finance and Operations Manager Jobs in Uganda

Responsibilities;

Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance to Whave Karamoja policies and guidelines, and maintain their integration to Mercy Corp’s financial, operational and reporting requirements and associated USAID requirements

Provide training, management and regular guidance to the staff team, in particular in respect of active an daily compliance to operating policies and financial guidelines

Improve Whave Karamoja policies and guidelines in the light of experience through regular edits submitted to the management team

Initiate meetings with local officials from the district and sub-counties in order to build robust reliability assurance systems supported by local government and sustained by communities and government

Liaise with local officials and with opinion leaders and politicians, to develop collaboratively a strong role for Whave in long-term sustainable development of rural Karamoja; identify strategic opportunities and keep Whave management informed of these regularly

Liaise with the Whave programmatic, monitoring and finance team in Kampala, and integrate Whave’s

work in Karamoja with its national work

Oversee the work of the Whave Karamoja team and ensuring performance targets are understood, met and staff are working to an appropriate professional standard

Requirements

Degree level education, with preference for post-graduate education

Excellent numeracy and literacy, and excellent interpersonal and management skills

Ability to meet targets and deadlines within context of aid projects in Africa

At least five years experience in aid finance including experience of USAID grants compliance

Advanced computer skills such as expert knowledge of Excel, Word, and relevant software

Willingness to live in Kaabong and Moroto
