Responsibilities
Manage all mobile data collection, analysis and reporting (Mobile Vulnerability Assessment & Mapping mVAM) for refugee settlements;
Maintain a finctional mVAM database and expand mVAM to all refugee settlements;
Work closely with the ICT unit to ensure the mVAM database is running on a safe, secure and robust platform and the backup of the database is done regularly and an appropriate disaster recivery mechanism is in place;;
Establish an effective system to follow up with mobile data service provider(s) and esnure that quality data on key food security indicators is collected;
Visit WFP databases on a weekly basis to ensure that the data is available; check the data for consistency and provide feedback to field offices on any issues of concern;
Support the implementation of the two-way communication through the Interactive Voice Response (IVR);
Actively participate in the planning, training, data collection, report writing and dissemination of the annual Food Seciruty and Nutrition Assessments in Karamoja and Teso sub-regions and refugee settlements and hosting areas;
Keep in touch with Analysis, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (AMEL) team to ensure that all the ncessary support with regard to food security and nutrition assessments and monitoring is provided;
Organise training, as needed, for the Country Office, field offices and partner staff;
Prepare a range of reports and data analyses;
Build and
maintain GIS databases and use GIS software to analyse the spatial and non-spatial information through the use of mapping software;
Produce maps showing the spatial distribution of various kinds of data, including food security classisfications, beneficiary numbers, etc;
Provide support to specific and/or defined programmes;
Perform any other additional tasks assigned by the VAM Officer and Head of AMEL unit.
Requirements
A University degree in: Statistics, Agricultural Economics, Social Sciences, Development Economics or any other related field, obtained from a recognized institution;
At least four (4) years of progressively responsible experience, with at least two years in Food Security analysis, monitoring, mVAM and database management related functions;.
A strong statistical background that will facilitate the use of complex and rigorous analytical methods, including principal components analysis, different sampling strategies etc;
Demonstrated ability to work in a team and under minimum supervision;
Strong English Written and Oral Communications skills;
Strong compute skills and knowledge and experience in using quantitative analysis techniques including SPSS, Tableau and Stata;
Experience in the use of ArcGIS and use of GPS;
Good knowledge and skills in using MS Office applications;
