WFP GIS Officer (VAM and M & E) Jobs in South Sudan
ResponsibilitiesThe Officer will report directly to the Head of Database Management and Business Intelligence and operate under the technical guidance of the Head of MEAL/VAM and data management.
Support monitoring and evaluation activities within a country or field office in a Level 3 emergency context, ensuring that WFP programmes generate quality evidence and inform operational decision making and strategic reorientation, considering the outcomes and effects of WFP’s food assistance activities on the lives of its beneficiaries.
The officer will ensure the respect and application of policies, guidance and procedures to protect beneficiaries and WFP information.
The Programme Officer is expected to play a major role in these activities by being the key person for database management, spatial analysis and mapping by incorporating GIS and Remote Sensing into WFP activities.
Deliverables
Working in close coordination with VAM and MEAL Country Officers and other Units in the country office
Help in organizing and managing data and information for decision making.
Conduct GIS, geospatial and remote sensing analysis.
In compliance with VAM/MEAL Standard Operating Procedures, guidelines, procedures, methodologies and manuals, prepare guidelines, procedures and manuals to ensure proper methodology for data protection and privacy in coordination with all units operating in Country office related with data management in any format.
Undertake reporting obligations including developing questionnaires, developing dashboard, and contribute to donor reports, food security and nutrition analysis reports and the annual country report among others.
Ensure compliance to corporate guidelines on data protection.
Any other duties as required.
Knowledge & Skills
SQL, Python, SPSS, STATA, GIS, etc.
Languages
Fluency (level C) in English language
Education
Advanced University degree in Computer Science, GIS, Sociology, Social Development, Development Economics or Performance Management or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training/courses.
