Wetlands International (WI), in collaboration with EWNHS, EWCA, HoAREC/N and BDA/RVLBDO, has been implementing the IKI-funded CRF “Climate Resilient Site Network in the African-Eurasian flyway” project (2016-2020) which aims to guide the development of a coherent and climate resilient network of protected or otherwise managed areas that are internationally important for the conservation of migratory waterbirds in the African-Eurasian flyway and thus contributes to the implementation of the relevant resolutions of the African-Eurasian Waterbird Agreement.
Objectives
As part of the project monitoring and learning activity, the consultancy assignment is expected to
achieve the following objectives:
Preparing an assessment report showing the project progress in terms of relevance, effectiveness and sustainability
Evaluating the achievements and contributions of the project towards the conservation and sustainable management of wetlands in the Central Rift Valley of Ethiopia
Assessing the contribution of the project in capacity strengthening for the protection and sustainable management of wetland resources
Assessing the project contribution towards the development of wetland-friendly policy and legal frameworks in Ethiopia
Documenting good practice, lessons and case stories.
Job Requirements
The assignment will require a multi-disciplinary and reliable team of experts. Required expertise within the team shall include an Environmentalist/Climate Change Expert,, Watershed Management Expert, a DRM/IRM Expert and Development Specialist.
The team members should have:
Strong and proven track record of working in areas related to wetlands and climate-resilience
Minimum MSc/M.A in degrees with proven track record of conducting similar studies/reviews
Experience of project formulation and evaluation
Excellent analytical, report compiling and cohesive report writing skills (in English).
