Duty station: The post will be based in Isiolo, with extensive travel to project areas in Isiolo County and with possible travels to the Nairobi office.

WeWorld GVC is an independent Italian organization emerged from the union between GVC NGO (constituted in Bologna in 1971) and WeWorld (founded in Milano in 1999), with the aim of increasing the impact of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Aid projects in 29 countries, including Italy.

WeWorld-GVC has been operating in Kenya since 2009 implementing projects in the counties of Nairobi, Narok, Nyamira, Migori and Homabay. Our key thematic areas of intervention focus on: Health and Nutrition, Water Sanitation; Food security Agriculture, Resilience, Livelihood, Education and Learning; Socio-Economic Development.
About the positionWeWorld-GVC is a part of a consortium that has been awarded a 4 years’ grant by the European Union on building community resilience in Isiolo County.
In this project WeWorld-GVC main areas of focus will be: Improved nutrition, food security and food production; Enhancing food crop production; Promoting sustainable water supply;
Elimination of defecation in the open through promoting Community Led Total Sanitation methodology; Promoting food security and improve nutrition indicators through a multisectoral approach.
Duties and Responsibilities To provide transport services for staff and other authorized Passengers and goods to and from assigned destinations in a safe, efficient and courteous manner, strictly adhering to road traffic rules. The individual will need to be extremely efficient in managing time in an environment which is dynamic. The individual should be able to plan best route for the journey, demonstrate initiative ensuring to be extremely discreet and polite in all dealings
with both internal and external contacts as a representative of the Organization.
Demonstrate consistency in upholding and promoting the values of the Organization in actions and decisions, in line with the Organization Code of Conduct
Carry out daily maintenance checks on vehicles and ability to detect faults and report promptly to supervisor
Ensure Vehicle is roadworthy before starting journey including lights, tyres, fuel, oil and lubricants
Ensure vehicles are serviced at the stated mileage and all details documented in the Logbook
Submit all purchase receipts to the Project Coordinator and the Admin and Finance Project Officer in charge and ensuring that any mechanical faults are reported to the organization
Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and discreteness in discussions and travels involving the nature of the role, passengers and destinations ensuring the safety and security of passengers and vehicle in his/her care
Mandatory Requirements:
Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) & Computer literate
A valid driving license class ABCE
Excellent driving skills with over 7 years continuous driving experience 5 of which is driving 4WD manual vehicle
Accurately complete journey record sheets for all journeys in official vehicles
A valid certificate of good conduct
Professional appearance, punctuality, attention to detail and proactive organizational skills
Ability to communicate in English, & Swahili
High level of integrity, trustworthy and ability to keep confidentiality
Ability to work successfully as a part of a multi-cultural and multi-religious team
Desired skills and experiences:
Previous experience working in Kenya and/or in ASAL areas;
Good knowledge of mechanic is an asset;
Basic IT Knowledge of MS Office and Internet;
Prior experience successfully managing culturally-diverse teams to achieve project outcomes
Experience within a government or NGO or Corporate/Office environment
