We World Project Assistant/Data Analyst Jobs in Kenya
Project SummaryWeWorld is implementing by Educate A Child (EAC) to identify and track “at high risk” (AHR) and “most at risk” (MAR) students, focusing on individual/family level risks factors and academic markers, affecting drop out. The ultimate Goal of the project is “at high risk and most at risk students affected by multiple risk factors in rural areas in Kenya (Migori and Narok Counties) are engaged and retained in a quality primary education.”
WW’s strategy to address the identified risk factors respond to the project Theory of Change (ToC), that recognizes and states the role of the educational community - defined as all the relevant stakeholders who have/should have some kind of role/responsibility in children education and reflects the assumption/belief that children’ education is a collective responsibility, and not only parents, families and schools are accountable for ensuring children right to a quality education.
In Kenya, enrolment rate in primary school is at 89.2%, and the retention rate in class 8 is 78.9% for boys, compared to 77.0% for girls (KNBS, 2017). With about 13.6% of adolescent girls and 0.7% of adolescent boys, aged 15-19 years, married; 33% of adolescent mothers aged 15-19 without any education and 1 in 5 (18%) adolescent girls aged 15-19 years either pregnant or having given birth (KDHS, 2014), early marriage is a major reason for learners dropping out of school.
The 2015/16 Kenya Integrated Household and Budget Survey estimated that there are about 773,696 child labourers in Kenya. Further, Kenya is not immune from GBV and the situation has been exacerbated by Covid-19 pandemic and nearly half of females (45.9%) and more than half of males (56.1%) experienced childhood violence in Kenya.
