Organization: Watoto Child Care Ministries. Duty Station: Neighbourhood, Kampala.
Watoto Church and Child Care Ministries has experienced exponential growth in the past couple of years composed of multiple Celebration Centers (Campuses) and diverse Community care initiatives that include; Child Care, Community and Neighborhood, Education and FM Radio amongst others.
In all of this, Watoto remains a local church, committed to celebrating Christ and caring for community.
Watoto is seeking to recruit an Education Officer to give oversight and coordinate the Neighbourhood children's education program.
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesCoordinate the Neighbourhood Education Activities Develop strategic initiatives for the continuation and improvement of the education program
Support in the identification and intake enrolment practice of the children into the program.
Spearhead the identification of partner schools and maintain effective communication between Neighbourhood and partner schools i.e., Watoto schools, with the Neighbourhood mothers.
Liaise with the Homes and education team to meet all mothers regarding expectations.
Support the mothers in the children's enrolment process and school engagement activities.
Represent the department in stakeholder engagement meetings.
Neighbourhood Children Performance and Welfare
Ensure that mothers are actively involved in Education activities of their children.
Develop strategies for effective follow-up on the children performance and implementation of improvement plans where appropriate.
Conduct home and schools' visits to ensure that children are actively engaged in education activities to measure progress and growth.
Ensure that discipleship and life skills classes are carried out, well attended by the children at school and home.
Attend to the counselling and discipleship needs of the children at school and home with necessary support extended.
Ensure that
children's camps, holiday programs and other extra-curricular activities are planned, carried out and well attended.
WISE Management for all Neighbourhood Children, Sponsorship, and Reporting
In-charge of children enrolment and timely update of information into WISE.
Manage the document collection, information upload into WISE, creation of individual files, and timely update of the Neighbourhood children's database.
Consult with the sponsorship department with sponsor engagement activities i.e., profile pictures and letter writing.
Consult with the Visit Watoto team to organise effective and remarkable sponsor visits.
Conduct monthly WISE Audit reports and prepare monthly reports on the Neighbourhood education.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
Hold at least a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Community Psychology/Social work/ Development studies or its equivalent from a recognised institution.
At least a minimum of two years' experience working with children, women, or vulnerable groups of people.
Excellent communication, report writing and computer literacy skills.
Should be a collaborator, result oriented, self-motivated, able to work with minimum supervision and for long hours.
