Role: Communications AssociateThe Communications Associate will join the Corporate Operations team and is responsible for Wasoko’s communications activities. The role is responsible for creating content, conducting market research, and managing corporate events. This position regularly interacts with all levels of the organization and can be called upon to provide advice and communications-related services.
Location: Based in Nairobi, Kenya.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesResearch, prepare, fact-check, edit, and produce professional media and communications materials for various audiences, including charts, graphs, images, and other visual aids.
Draft talking points and key messages to prepare panelists for speaking engagements.
Responsible for management of corporate events, functions, and exhibitions
Keep track of company-related news published in the media and collate analytics and metrics.
Maintain
up-to-date specialist knowledge on E-commerce, FMCG, and Financial Services in Africa.
Engage with stakeholders and partner organizations to create impact stories (photo, audio, and video) for inclusion in the content plan and raise Wasoko’s brand’s visibility.
Work with the leadership team to produce blogs, op-eds, and white papers for external publications.
Provide required creative, editorial, and operational support for the leadership team.
Requirements
The Successful Candidate Will Possess:
A bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Media, or other related fields is required.
At least two years of progressive experience in a communications position.
Excellent writer, communicator, and storyteller
Strong organization skills and attention to detail
Experience in developing and managing strong and complex relationships across business units as part of a centralized function; and externally with multiple stakeholders
Must have excellent interpersonal, networking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Fluency in English required; French and Swahili a plus
