In Uganda, VVOB, in partnership with the Ministry of Education and Sports is implementing the programme: "From Classroom to Farm teaching agriculture practically The programmes Objective IS to strengthen the professional development of teacher / instructor educators, BTVET instructors and O-level secondary teachers to Teach Agriculture Practically (TAP) The programme will enable the graduates to develop the competencies, skills, and attitudes for practical teaching / learning of Agriculture

Responsibilities

  • The Education Advisor is responsible for detecting professional development needs of teachers and educational managers, initiate and manage capacity development processes and trajectories in cooperation with the strategic and operational partners, and contribute to the development and implementation of new proposals.
  • The Education Advisor will further establish and maintain strong relations with strategic partners including the Ministry of Education & Sports and support the facilitation of curriculum development.
  • In this capacity the advisor will regularly travel within Uganda.
  • The successful candidate will join a team of advisors comprised of other education advisors, agricultural advisors, and a MEAL advisor, and shall report to the programme manager.

    Requirements

  • Masters’ Degree in Education, Development Studies or related field;
    • At least six years’ working experience with the Ugandan education sector;
    • An in-depth understanding of:
    • The priorities for strengthening education sector in
    Uganda, and/of ongoing reform processes.
    • The systems and practices directed to the professional development of instructors and instructors’ educators;
    • Demonstrable experience with capacity development processes in the context of educational institutions;
    • Knowledge of and / or experience with equity and gender in education
    • Knowledge of and / or experience with all phases of Project Cycle Management (PCM) and the standard instruments used for PCM in the development sector;
