Job DescriptionVIS – Volontariato Internazionale per lo Sviluppo is an International NGO based in Rome, Italy and accredited by Charities and Societies Agency in Ethiopia as a Foreign Charity in accordance with the Charities & Societies Agency proclamation No 621/2009 (accreditation n. 0005 issued on 8th October 2009).
VIS Ethiopia works mainly in the fields of education, vocational training, job placement, prevention of irregular migration, and in the wash sanitation sector in partners with the Diocese of Adigrat and the Salesians of Don Bosco.
VIS Ethiopia is seeking a candidate for the post of Microcredit Expert. The Microcredit Expert will be working in the project: “Resilience and Integration in favor of Eritrean refugees and host communities in the area of Shire”
Summary Job Description Prepare monthly and weekly implementation plans of the livelihood component of the project;
Implement the livelihood component of the project according to the monthly and weekly plans;
Prepare weekly and monthly implementation progress reports of the livelihood component of the project;
Collect and document field baseline data on the livelihood situation of the area; identifying the existing opportunities to set up Income generating activities and project target beneficiary training needs;
Undertake project direct beneficiary selection and screening;
Organize and give beneficiary trainings, form and follow up the Village Saving and Loan Associations;
Keep record and track information on the livelihood component beneficiaries of the project;
Facilitate, establish and maintain working networks with the project stakeholders at field level;
Cooperate with implementing partners of the project mainly in relation to
community activities;
Undertake other assigned responsibilities and duties by project manager;
Job Requirements
Terms of Employment: Six (6) months, with a 45-day probationary period; possibility of extension
Qualification
BA/BSc degree or further qualification in Management, Economics, Agricultural economics, Cooperative management, Development Studies; Rural development, Development management, Community development, Project Management and similar fields of study;
Experience
At least five years of demonstrated professional experience in NGO setting in implementation and follow up of community based Income Generating Activities(IGA), Village Saving and Loan Associations(VSLA) and Rural Microcredit in particular with women and youth groups;
Demonstrated skills in field activity planning, organization and implementation;
Demonstrated skills in project direct target beneficiary selection and screening in close consultation of all relevant field level stakeholders and project staff;
Demonstrated skills in organizing, providing and follow up of basic business skills/entrepreneurship and technical training follow up to project beneficiaries;
Skills on field data collection(Household Questionnaires, Focused Group Discussions, Key Informant Interviews etc), analysis and report writing;
Ability to travel and work under pressure in harsh situations beyond working hours in the field;
Excellent skills in communicating, negotiating, and interpersonal skills;
Experience in working in refugee and host community livelihoods is an advantage;
Additional Requirements:
Ability to work in team and demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills
Strong computer skills in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc).
Bilingual: Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Tigrigna, English
Excellent skills in communicating, negotiating, and interpersonal skills;
Willingness to travel and work in remote areas for field work
Recommendation letter from the most recent employer
Able to present release letter from current employer in two weeks after job offer
