Job Description
Victory Farms is the fastest-growing aquaculture operation in sub-Saharan Africa.
VF is seeking an experienced and passionate Supply Chain Manager to join our team at this exciting period of expansion.
The Supply Chain Manager will be a cornerstone supporting the complex domestic and import inputs side of the business, and large-scale construction projects that are core to the company’s growth strategy.
They will serve as a link between farm operations, commercial, construction department, and admin/financial department; understanding on the ground realities and matching them with long-term project objectives.
Specifically, the Supply Chain Manager will lead the sourcing and acquisition of appropriate materials and equipment on plan and on time and manage the associated movement of goods across multiple sites in Kenya.
Responsibilities will include:
developing and mastering systems to procure material and equipment in a fashion that ensures project success;
managing a small team to achieve an efficient and quick delivery/procurement speed, working within bill of quantities constraints and project timelines to deliver optimal outcomes; developing supplier relationships, negotiating pricing and payment terms; interfacing with the finance department to track utilization, project cost allocation, and purchase forecasting; and providing insights for the management team on sourcing strategies.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a college degree (or equivalent in work experience). He/She will have 8+ years working in a fast-paced office environment, and hold the following qualifications.
Candidates under the age of 30 will not be considered.
Ability to build Supply Chain function within a young and rapidly-growing organization, and then scaling that operation to support multi-site and cross-discipline activities
Strong in systems, processes, controls, and able to execute effectively and consistently with a constantly expanding operational mandate
Experienced in African context, industry must resemble the complexity of the VF operation (spanning construction, logistics, imports, etc.), and preferably some experience with rapidly perishable FMCG
Knowledge of and experience with Kenyan government, ability to lead range of import projects that Kenyan officials lack experience (mainly aquaculture and related goods / techs)
Experienced in effectively executing within budgets and practicing budget control
Knowledge of procurement procedure and related reporting
Experienced in sourcing suppliers, building up a supplier data base, managing supplier relationships, and negotiating optimal terms
Strong work ethic, with proven ability to
work independently and complete tasks within deadlines
Excellent team-player, can function well in diverse team settings, and is an effective communicator
Strong organizational skills with a high-level of attention to detail
Highly proficient with a computer: using Office applications, as well as web-based tools and software, can help customize tools, and communication platforms such as WhatsApp
Desire to learn and progress within the organization and drives excellence
Duties & Responsibilities:
Oversee efficient working of employees of import department and manage all communication with customers and vendors, as well as internal resources to manage movement of goods.
Plan and implement all import and export transportation strategies according to all supplier and customer demand and administer internal movement of all goods and ensure compliance to all government regulations.
Partner with suppliers and inventory planners and ensure accurate movement of all international goods and ensure arrival of goods within required time frame and obtain best freight rates at all times.
Design, evaluate and renew all contracts as per requirement and monitor and prepare reports for all import activities and recommend changes if required.
Assist to prepare all import quotes for customers and perform all shipment bookings with carriers.
Administer and implement all custom and border protection for various security programs and maintain compliance to all customer procedures.
Perform research for various departments for all import and export laws and procedures and maintain knowledge on all tariffs and licenses and collaborate with finance team and maintain inventory of all products and analyze all insurance documents.
Design all SOPs for import department and ensure compliance to all ISO guidelines and prepare reports to be submitted to government agencies.
Provide all insurance on shipments and design and execute all corrective action plans for processes.
Collaborate with various Kenyan government officials, internal resources, and perform audit on processes and maintain expert knowledge on all custom regulations.
