IntroductionThe U.S. Mission in Nairobi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Architect.

Qualifications and Evaluations
Education:
A degree in Architecture or Architectural Engineering is required.
Experience:
Five years of progressive experience in the field of architecture related to building construction is required. Such experience to have been as a designer/architect working on a large scale (multi-million euro) residential or commercial development projects with at least two years of experience working with U.S./European codes and criteria of practice.

Languages:
Level IV (Fluent, Reading/speaking /writing) English is required. (This may be tested.)
Level III (Fluent, Reading/Speaking/Writing) Kiswahili is required.
Skills
and Abilities:
Must be proficient in MS Office software for Word Processing and Analysis.
Must be able to use engineering management software to maintain daily construction inspection logs.
Must be able to create architectural cost estimates, review architectural construction drawings for code compliance and provide briefings on issues utilizing AutoCAD and/or Revit software.
Job Knowledge:
Must have knowledge in design and construction practices in US and UK utilizing standard architectural codes and specifications, thorough professional knowledge in civil and architectural design calculations and criteria, including preparation of engineering drawings and specification.
Qualifications: All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
Job Specification
Duties:
The Architect shall inspect construction; review plans; recommend approval of shop drawings and submittals; maintain a daily log of construction activities; develop change orders including preparing cost estimates; and other construction engineering duties related to the construction of the Nairobi New Office Annex (NOX) project.
S/he shall be capable of working independently and shall provide professional engineering services.
The Architect will report directly to the Overseas Buildings Operations (OBO) Construction Manager.
