DutiesThe Strategic Communications and Press Assistant is responsible for reviewing content for Mission flagship digital properties (social media, website content); customizing content and online engagement to promote Mission objectives; reviewing daily media roundup summaries that are sent to the Mission and Washington, DC; and supporting press and media efforts for visits and events.
Designs and develops innovative engagement opportunities and tools.
Assists with developing and reviewing content for communications campaigns.
Monitors Zambian press and media coverage of issues of importance to the United States.
Identifies and advises Mission leadership on strategies for promoting accurate and balanced Zambian press and media coverage of U.S. foreign policy and American interests, correcting misinformation and countering disinformation.
Provides logistical, planning, and implementation support to public events organized by the Public Affairs Section (PAS).
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
Experience:
Three years of experience is required in digital marketing, advertising, mass communications, or managing digital properties, including online interaction with the public and content creation in multimedia and traditional formats.
Must have experience as an advanced end-user of industry standard desktop and mobile software applications. (Note: Candidates who advance will have to provide samples of original work demonstrating visual and multimedia design competence.)
Education Requirements:
A university degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, Design, Advertising, or local equivalent is required.
Qualifications:
All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.
