Duties
  • Basic Function of the Position – The incumbent is a Helpdesk Support Specialist for the Information Systems Center (ISC).
  • She/he reports directly to the System Manager.
  • As the initial point of contact for over 1,100 unclassified system users (including 32 agencies), the incumbent is responsible for providing front desk technical support and assistance to walk-in customers and phone calls.
  • Incumbent is the focal point of Tier 1 support and uses the Mission’s ticket system.
  • Incumbent’s primary objective is to be responsive to customer requests and ensure open communication with customers to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • He/she also serves as the Administrative/Technical/logistical Assistant to the Information Systems Center (ISC) providing every aspect of IT support and services.

    Qualifications and Evaluations
  • Three years previous experience in administration is required.
  • Experience in Microsoft products and related applications is required.
  • Experience in customer support is also required.

    Job Knowledge:
  • Good working knowledge of office routines and understanding of basic clerical procedures.
  • Knowledge of computer equipment, basic operation troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of mobile computing devices, and multimedia systems.

    Education Requirements:
  • Completion of Secondary School is required
  • Two years of college studies in business administration is also required.

    Language:
  • Level IV English (fluency, reading/speaking/writing) and Level III Kiswahili (speaking/reading/writing) is required. (This may be tested).

    Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products is required.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Must have the ability to comprehend basic technical instructions.
  • The ability to work with minimal Supervision is essential.

    Qualifications:
  • All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications.

    Benefits:
  • Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Nairobi, Kenya may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
  • For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
  • The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.

  • A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant.
  • The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
  • Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
  • This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
