US Embassy Jobs in South Africa - Accounting Technician Vacancies

Duties

The incumbent maintains, reviews, and balances allotment accounting records for Mission South Africa’s complex Serviced Agency by Location.

Work involves maintaining current status of funds, generating required reports (P-60 & P-62 reports) as well as forecasting quarterly obligations for recurring expenses.

Analyzes expenditures against established obligations and adjusts as needed in conjunction with Agency staff and STATE Budget Analyst.

Serves as the Agency point of contact for the full spectrum allotment accounting function.

Serves as the accounting technician Serviced Agency allotments, performing data entry functions for these allotments by establishing obligations in the secure financial system (Momentum).

Receives Direct supervision from the ICASS Financial Analyst

Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience:

Two years of relevant prior experience in budget, accounting and/or financial analysis is required. Experience should include analysis and interpretation of data and presentation of findings in written and oral form.

Education Requirements:

Completion of secondary school is required. Two years diploma in Accounting, Budget and/or Financial Management

Evaluations:

Language:

Fluent in speaking, reading and writing in English (This may be tested).

Skills and Abilities:

Must have strong skills in computer applications, MS Word, MS Excel, Power Point and other spreadsheets.

Must possess the ability to solve problems, work independently, draft cogent replies to inquiries, and interact with all levels of employees.

Familiarity in Microsoft Excel is required. (This may be tested).
