DutiesThe SD will be responsible for overall operational management of the Surveillance Detection Team and Program. SD will supervise/coordinate the daily operational planning and deployment of the Surveillance Detection (SD) teams as directed by the RSO. Serve as liaison with USAID, Peace Corps and the Mission’s Public Affairs Section regarding SD reports at those facilities.
Liaisons with the Malawi Police Service to validated and investigate SD reports at Mission facilities. Develop, plan and coordinate for on-the-job SD team training/pre-deployment training of the SD team members. Schedule and coordinate the Mission planning and daily patrol areas for the SD teams as directed by the RSO.
Ensure that the SD sighting reports are documented and entered into the SD database. The SD coordinator may also perform the Data Entry and Analysis duties of the Program Technician.
Qualifications and EvaluationsExperience:
At least two years of military, police, or private experience in the field of security is required, and at least one year of prior supervisory experience.
Job Knowledge:
A thorough knowledge of surveillance techniques, familiarity with normal traffic patterns, pedestrian behavior, Embassy facilities, security procedures, and travel routes, and knowledge of host country law enforcement capabilities
is required.
Education Requirements:
Mandatory: Completion of Secondary school is required.

Language:
Level 3 (good working knowledge) written and spoken English language skills are required. Fluency in host country language is required
Skills and Abilities
Must possess a valid Class B driver’s license and pass a motor pool administered standard driving test.
Must have the ability to manage the work of others in a team environment.
Must have Program management skills and organizational ability.
Must have basic numerical skills, Keyboard skills and computer skills.
