U.S. Embassy in Malawi HIV Care and Treatment Specialist Jobs
DutiesThe incumbent takes an active role in developing specific CDC program goals and objectives to support the scale-up of comprehensive, quality prevention of mother-to-child HIV transmission (PMTCT) and pediatric (Peds) programs by developing adaptable training tools, utilizing operational research to identify and implement models of service delivery adapted to district, regional, sub-national and national contexts.
He/she provides technical expertise and support in planning, implementing, and evaluating effective strategies for scaling up of sustainable programs for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and other opportunistic infections in women, infants, and children, including linking PMTCT/Peds HIV programs with HIV clinical and preventive services and other maternal and child health settings/contexts.
This includes collaboration on initiatives proposed in the country operational plans, annual work plans, and regular progress reports related to the delivery of HIV care and treatment services. Incumbent prepares directive, memoranda, policy statements, and proposals to introduce new initiatives and to recommend effective operations consistent with strategic objectives of the PEPFAR program in Malawi.
Qualifications and EvaluationsExperience:
A minimum of 5 years’ work experience of which 3 years should be at senior level public health experience in developing, implementing & evaluating HIV/AIDS treatment and care or other public health
programs that involve coordination with an international agency or implementing partner is required.
Education Requirements:
Medical Degree (MD) or host country equivalent, or Master of Public Health, Master of Clinical Health Sciences, Masters of HIV Management, Masters of Epidemiology, Master of Science in Child Health Nursing,
Master of Science in Reproductive Health, Master of Science in Midwifery, or Master of Science in Community Health Nursing.
