Duties

The job holder is the principal Chauffeur to the Office of the Director (OD) and is responsible for driving within and outside Lilongwe City official vehicles to transport the Country Director and the Deputy Country Director on official business such as meetings, functions, events, and site visits.

When not engaged in work directly for the OD, the incumbent drives assigned vehicles to transport VIP guests and officials to visit activities associated with CDC-Malawi and/or partner organizations as extra support to ICASS Motorpool; In performing his/her duties, the Chauffeur provides extra security and frontline support to the Country Director.

The job holder delivers various important documents, including invitations to Government Ministries, Embassies, UN, Private, International Organizations, Partner Agencies, and NGOs in support of OD.

The job holder performs various administrative support duties for OD and staff including maintaining up-to-date key contact lists, coordination of calendars and meeting schedules, photocopying, planning, and providing logistical and administrative support for conferences and meetings primarily for OD and for the entire office.

The job holder is directly supervised by the Management and Operations Specialist. However, work instructions and schedules are provided by the Country Director, Deputy Country Director, and the Public Health Administrative Management Assistant.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Experience:

  • A minimum of three years of work experience is required.

    Job Knowledge:

  • The job holder must be familiar with host-country traffic laws, regulations, and rules.

  • Must have some knowledge of USG travel regulations and procedures and the use of official vehicles.

  • Must have knowledge of the road
    network in the country including the safety of the capital city and the countryside.

  • Thorough knowledge of key principles of administrative and office support services.

  • Must have good knowledge of administrative policies, procedures, and structure of the Government of Malawi as well as the business operating environment.

    Education Requirements:

  • Completion of Secondary School or Local Mandatory Schooling and received high school diploma

    Evaluations:

    Post may choose to add the phrase “This may be tested” after a language, skill, and/or ability. Review the VA template for specific information.

    Language:

  • Mandatory: Copy from Section 15(d) of PD. List each language separately. Post must not list the language level number (i.e. I, II, III, IV) but only list the term associated to the level (i.e. Basic, Good Working Knowledge).

    Skills and Abilities Optional:

    This is not required, but if used, derive from Section 15(f) of PD. These must be specific and clearly worded. The information added here will be used to qualify the applicants during the recruitment process.
