DutiesThe American Center Coordinator helps to design and implement Mission Public Diplomacy (PD) outreach to Emerging Voices (EV) and Established Opinion Leader (EOL) audiences via projects and events at the American Center, as well as experiential learning (EXPL), or “learning through experience,” activities such as tech or entrepreneurship camps, music and sports programs, STEAM education programs, journalism training, and other focused community engagement programs.
Coordinates the relationship between the Public Diplomacy (PD) Section and the American Center’s regular contacts, the general public, and additional monthly visitors/patrons. The incumbent performs a range of tasks at the American Center, including, but not limited to, supporting and coordinating the American Center’s program of regular activities, managing the American Center’s library resources, and supporting the American Center’s physical, equipment, and outreach requirements.
Qualifications and EvaluationsExperience:
Three years of experience is required in public affairs, public education, communications, or delivering information resources. .
Job Knowledge:
A thorough understanding of the attitudes and preferences of the EV and EOL audience sectors in Malawi, including the regional, ethnic, socioeconomic, cultural, and linguistic factors and the religious and educational institutions that shape those attitudes, is required.
Education Requirements:
Mandatory: A university degree in Communications, Library Science, Information Management, International Affairs, American Studies, or local equivalent is required.

Mandatory: English: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required.
Host-Country Language: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Chichewa is required

Cutting edge American Center and EXPL opportunities to attract audiences and engage them in positive ways.
Must be able to advise senior Mission leaders of opportunities to promote Mission American Center and EXPL
Outreach objectives; identify, analyze, predict, and assess audience attitudes; and evaluate the impact of activities
And projects and modify approaches for the best outcomes. Must be able to perceive the emergence of new trends
And new sources of influence on EV audiences and adjust operations and programming accordingly.
