DutiesThe incumbent must comply with and implement all Department of State and Post Information Technology rules and regulations.
The incumbent is obligated to notify and assist the Information Management Officer, Information Systems Security Officer and/or the Regional Security Officer of any potential Information Technology security issue as per 12 FAM 622.1-9 (b).
ISA will provide first tier end-user support which will encompass troubleshooting, solving operating systems issues, network and desktop application software problems.
ISA will also perform server administration tasks such as load balancing, hardware and ISP is providing the bandwidth for which Post is paying. S/he will also be responsible for troubleshooting and assisting users with embassy approved applications such as WebPass, COAST, eServices, ILMS, Contact Management Database and the Microsoft Software Suite.
Will also use iPOST to resolve vulnerabilities, ensure that antivirus files are up to date on all workstations and that compliance scans are run and that SMS isn't reporting errors. ISA will install and configure workstations, peripherals, laptops, printers, scanners, servers, and network switches.
S/he will also perform routine maintenance on all computer equipment and Local Area Network/Wide Area Network systems.
The ISA will serve as the first point of contact for all Consular Affairs (CA) technical and non-technical issues.
S/he will be the chief liaison and POC between CA at post and CA refresh teams.
Having an ISC staffer dedicated to CA will help to improve the efficiency of CA operations and minimize downtime.
S/he will also be responsible for systems at the CMR, DCR and ACC and will be responsible for updating, troubleshooting, antivirus updates and firewall settings on all the client computers.
ISA under the supervision of the Information Systems Officer and the Assistant Systems Manager will deploy and manage post Dedicated Internet Network (DIN).
The network which is comprised of both workstations and laptops in compliance with the required DoS DIN regulations.
S/he will also be required to maintain the inventory of the DIN workstations and laptops. S/he will also need to ensure that tasks such as antivirus updates, patches, etc. are applied and fully updated on
all the workstations and laptops.
The ISA will work with other Information System Center (ISC) staff, post's telephone and radio technician and other LE Staff in all areas required to support the unclassified LAN network at post.
This will include running and terminating Cat 5/6 or fiber optic cable and the installation and maintenance of workstations.
As directed by the Information Systems Officer or Systems Manager, the ISA will assist in installing or relocating computer and telephone drops within Embassy offices, CMR, DCR or ACC.
Requirements:
Minimum 2 years in technical and administrative positions with emphasis on utilization of computer systems, Local Area Network operations and administration is required. Experience with communication equipment, especially in the area of wireless networking and Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) is required.
Education Requirements:
Completion of Advance Level Secondary School Education (Form VI) is required.
Two years of technical training with emphasis on data processing or equivalent is required.
Level III (Good Working Knowledge) writing/reading/speaking of English and Kiswahili is required. (This may be tested)
Must be able to lift 40 pounds.
