DutiesUnder the supervision of the American Citizen Services (ACS) Chief, the incumbent is the supervisory Locally Employed Staff (LE Staff) in Karachi's ACS unit, guiding the day-to-day work of the unit and managing the unit's standard operating procedures.
The incumbent will take the lead on handling a full spectrum of ACS special citizen services involving arrests, international parental child abductions, repatriations, and destitute Americans.
As a supervisor, the incumbent directly supervises two (2) subordinate LE Staff.
Qualifications and Evaluations
Requirements:
Experience: Four years of progressively responsible experience involving the application of complex regulatory material, along with extensive public contact or other closely related experience is required. Previous work in automated systems is required. The incumbent should have had experience in prioritization and distribution of work to others as well as project management.
OR
In the absence of successful completion of two (2) years of post-secondary study at a College or University, six years of progressively responsible experience involving the application of complex regulatory material, along with extensive public contact or other closely related experience is required.
Job Knowledge:
An in-depth knowledge of Department policy, regulations, and practices, and U.S. citizenship law and regulations are required. A thorough knowledge of Federal Benefits programs is required. A thorough knowledge of South African law and practice governing international travel, marriage, divorce, child custody, adoptions, citizenship and permanent residence, and process of criminal proceedings is required.
Education Requirements:
Education: Successful completion of two (2) years of post-secondary study at a College or University is required.
Evaluations:
Language: Level 4 (Fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English is required.
Skills and Abilities:
Ability to effectively evaluate day-to-day unit operations and to proactively develop and implement solutions for identified issues; to work effectively under pressure and exercise tact and good judgment in dealing with the public and with South African officials; to evaluate evidence, apply complex regulations correctly, and succinctly and clearly explain complex issues to others; and ability to solve novel problems and find resourceful solutions for U.S. citizens' problems is required. Keyboard skills required.

Locally Employed Staff, including Members of Household (MOHs), and Third-Country Nationals (TCNs), working at the U.S. Mission in Pretoria, South Africa may receive a compensation package that may include health, separation, and other benefits.
For EFMs, benefits should be discussed with the Human Resources Office.
The pay plan is assigned at the time of the conditional offer letter by the HR Office.
