Duties
The incumbent is a Regional Database Administrator responsible for administration, operation, and management of network database for the entire Mission (including the Embassy in Pretoria and Consulates Cape Town, Durban, and Johannesburg).
He/she maintains servers on the network in Pretoria, including updates, patching, security and backups.
He/she will act as a section's purchasing agent and trainer/coordinator for all Mission computer and software related courses.
The position is a SharePoint designer and developer.
This person reports directly to the Information Systems Chief.
Requirements
Experience
Minimum 5 years experience managing Windows Server 2012, or newer OS, and WAN/LAN telecom server based, active directory, networking systems, including 3 years performing SharePoint maintenance and design is required.
Education Requirements
A bachelor's degree in Information Technology or Computer Science is required.
Evaluations
Language
English Level IV (fluency, reading/ speaking/ writing) is required.
Skills and Abilities
Must be able to maintain a server based network with minimal supervision.
Ability and aptitude to troubleshoot network communications.
Effectively communicate and have ability to instruct others individually and in groups.
Able to establish priorities to ensure projects are completed.
Must have excellent organizational, record keeping, and professional interpersonal skills.
Must carry heavy equipment weighing up to 23kgs.
Serves as occasional money holder.

Important

A “certification” is any written document from the armed forces that certifies the service member is expected to be discharged or released from active duty service in the armed forces under honorable conditions within 120 days after the certification is submitted by the applicant.
The certification letter should be on letterhead of the appropriate military branch of the service and contain (1) the military service dates including the expected discharge or release date; and (2) the character of service.
Acceptable documentation must be submitted in order for the preference to be given.
This level of preference applies to all Foreign Service employees on LWOP and CS with re-employment rights back to their agency or bureau.
