    Specific responsibilities:

  • URC is seeking an experienced Project Director for an anticipated USAID-funded global project. The Project Director will provide overall technical vision and oversight for the implementation plans for COVID-19 preparedness and response. He/she will ensure the project complies with award terms and conditions, USAID policies and regulations.

  • The Project Director will serve as the principal representative of the project with USAID/Washington and will be responsible for furnishing appropriate central-level reports, meetings with the field, and oversee the work of the global team. S/he will also serve as main liaison with partners and other stakeholders.

    Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide strategic and technical leadership, management, and administration of the project.

  • Serve as the primary liaison from URC to USAID/Washington and Missions, partners, and other stakeholders.

  • Monitor project performance to achieve project goals and objectives.

  • Support timely submission of project reports according to agreed deadlines, quarterly and annually, and respond promptly to other ad hoc informational requests by USAID as needed.

  • Serve as a spokesperson and advocate, represent the project to the USG, donors, relevant stakeholders, cooperating agencies, and others.

  • Ensure appropriate and timely documentation and dissemination of key results using a variety of communication strategies and media.

  • Build and maintain strong working relations with key internal and external stakeholders, beneficiaries, partners, and suppliers.

  • Ensure effective compliance with USAID/USG rules
    and regulations, and applicable URC policies.

  • Supervise staff to meet evolving project demands, including management of a roster of technical experts with national and international expertise to contribute to project’s needed as required.

    Required Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree preferably in public health/epidemiology, medicine, social/behavioral/ biological sciences, international affairs, management, and/or related field (advanced degree required; PhD preferred).

  • At least (10) ten years of work experience relevant to the contract subject matter.

  • Experience interacting with developing country governments, international organizations, other bilateral donors and civil society representatives, and senior level government officials.

  • Previous experience managing international development complex multi-million-dollar donor funded health programs, preferably USAID-funded, of similar scope and complexity, for at least 5 years.

  • Field experience working with public health programming is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with local partners, particularly in areas related to organizational capacity development, financial management and audits, business development, and transition/ sustainability.

  • Must have excellent analytical skills, interpersonal skills, team management skills, leadership, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior level colleagues particularly interacting productively, proactively, and comfortably with national and subnational government officials and institutions, NGOs, private sector groups, USAID, and other donors.

  • Demonstrated familiarity and understanding of USG policies and regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and mentor/coach direct reports.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Fluency in English is required; Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French language skills preferred.

    Required Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree preferably in public health, medicine, social/behavioral/biological sciences, international affairs, management, and/or related field (advanced degree required; PhD preferred).

  • At least (10) ten years of work experience relevant to the contract subject matter.

  • Previous experience managing teams, preferably expatriate and local staff.

  • Proven experience managing projects working on Health procurements and Supply Chain.

  • Experience interacting with developing country governments, international organizations, other bilateral donors and civil society representatives, and senior level government officials.

  • Previous experience managing international development projects, preferably USAID-funded, of similar scope and complexity, for at least 5 years.

  • Field experience working with public health programming is highly desirable.

  • Experience working with local partners, particularly in areas related to organizational capacity development, financial management and audits, business development, and transition/ sustainability.

  • Must have excellent analytical skills, interpersonal skills, team management skills, leadership, and decision-making skills.

  • Demonstrated leadership and management abilities in leading complex multi-million-dollar donor funded health programs preferably in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean or similar settings.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with senior level colleagues particularly interacting productively, proactively, and comfortably with national and subnational government officials and institutions, NGOs, private sector groups, USAID, and other donors.

  • Demonstrated familiarity and understanding of USG policies and regulations.

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment and mentor/coach direct reports.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • Fluency in English is required; Spanish, Portuguese, and/or French language skills preferred.
