Qualifications and Requirements:
At the Professor Level, a PhD is essential.
The successful candidate will have an international profile in Applied Mechanics research, scholarship and teaching.
S/he will conduct and supervise research at all levels.
The successful candidate will have a proven record of significant interactions with industry and the profession and a record of substantial research funding.
At the Associate Professor Level, a PhD is essential.
The successful candidate will have an established record of scholarship/teaching and be a research leader in Applied Mechanics.
S/he will conduct and supervise research at all levels.
The successful candidate will have a proven record of
significant interactions with industry and the profession and a record of substantial research funding.
At the Senior Lecturer Level, a PhD is essential.
The successful candidate will have a record of scholarship/teaching and be research active in Applied Mechanics.
S/he will conduct and supervise research at all levels.
The successful candidate will have a proven record of interactions with industry and the profession.
A record of substantial research funding will be advantageous.
The successful candidate at any level will have a good knowledge of the basic material pertaining to undergraduate Mechanical or Aeronautical Engineering courses, and the background to be able to be registered as a Professional Engineer, if not already registered in South Africa.
Duties:
Contributions towards excellence in research, education and professional services; academic leadership in the field of Mechanical Engineering; undergraduate and postgraduate lecturing; research leadership and project supervision; active engagement with industrial partners; University administration.
