University of the Witwatersrand Admissions Consultant - Jobs in South Africa
Main Purpose: The incumbent will be responsible for implementing approved Student Enrolment Centre customer relations management procedures so as to provide a one-stop service to enquirers, prospective applicants and the parents of these individuals, with respect to applying to the University for both undergraduate and postgraduate applications.
Meeting agreed targets for the conversion of applicants into registered students through timeous decision making at undergraduate level.
Establishing close liaison with postgraduate applicants and keeping close contact with Schools to ensure suitable postgraduate applicants enroll for chosen programs.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring that admission decision making is timeous and applicants are assessed according to the university requirements and selection criteria as set by the faculty.
Ensuring that all admission enquiries (telephonic, email, CRM, one-on- one consultations, reception queries etc.) to SENC are dealt with timeously and in a professional manner.
Dealing with various administrative tasks pertaining to admission process.
Assessing the needs of the applicant with respect to broad career and curriculum advice for degree programmes both local and international applicants.
Performing any other duties defined by the immediate Supervisor and Head and
from time to time.
Providing a service to the first-time undergraduate students during registration period.
Liaising closely with Faculty Offices, Schools, Financial Aid and Scholarships Office, Counselling and Career Development Unit, Campus Housing and Residence Life, Parking and Library Services, Sports Administration and Disability Rights Unit to ensure that the applicants get the best service.
Requirements:
Matric and relevant Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
At least 2 years’ experience in a Faculty Office or similar environment
Understanding of Tertiary Education Sector and in-depth knowledge of admission processes
High level of professionalism, excellent customer service, ability to pay attention to detail, integrity and accountability are essential
Strong computer literacy and understanding of student systems
Good communication skills and ability to manage pressure
Decision making and analytical thinking
Empathy and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues
Preference:
The incumbent should have an experience of working in a university or higher education environment and the ability to work under high pressure as well in-depth knowledge of admission processes at both undergraduate and postgraduate level.
