Role Clarification & Key Performance Areas The University of the Western Cape requires an individual who has a deadline driven approach, works well under pressure, is meticulous, has strong technical skills and enjoys working in a team environment, to administer physical and electronic document management components of the University’s Financial ERP system. The individual should readily adapt to changes in processes, environment and legislation.
The role involves receiving cash / card payments from students and staff, issuing receipts, balancing cash/ card takings, other collections, record keeping and the processing of other related transactions within the department. The incumbent should be able to work independently as well as in a team and have good attention to detail and accuracy.
This role reports to the Section Head Cashiers and the key responsibilities are:
Ensuring appropriate procedural security
Daily checking of banking
Managing petty cash and till/cash operating activities
Reconciling Student Banking App for Gym fees
Elements of the student registration process
Liaising with banks and cash courier services
Departmental record keeping duties (filing)
Dealing with clients in a professional and courteous manner
Ad hoc tasks pertaining to the General Ledger
Minimum Requirements
Senior Certificate (Grade 12)
Be able to work with people (Campus wide).
Must
be able to work under pressure and beyond normal office hours.
Assist with ad hoc duties assigned by line manager.
Post school banking certification or diploma.
3 years formal banking experience in daily receipting and cash reconciliation.
Experience in overall office management.
Ability to investigate and resolve cash differences.
Work within a team as well as independently, be reliable and accurate.
Be flexible to adapt to ongoing changes within the cash office environment.
Good communication skills.
Honesty, integrity and trustworthiness.
Has a high standard of performance, coupled with a professional and positive attitude.
Computer proficient in specifically Microsoft Office Applications.
Experience with on InforLN and SASI systems would be advantageous.
