University of Limpopo Lecturer: Programme in Media Studies Jobs in South Africa
Two lectureship vacancies exist for suitably qualified and experienced individuals in the above posts. The candidates will be responsible for undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision, and will form part of a dynamic team in the Programme of Media Studies: Department of Communication, Media and Information Studies, in the School of Languages and Communication Studies, Faculty of Humanities
RequirementsA Master’s qualification in Media Studies or Film and Television Studies
A clear understanding of Media, Film Theory and Television Studies.
A sound knowledge of Media, Film and Television production with specific skills in scripting for film editing and directing.
At least 2 years’ practical experience in teaching both in contact and online mode of teach, as well as directing film at tertiary level.
Studying towards a PhD qualification in Media studies will be an added advantage
An understanding of the challenges facing higher education sector in South Africa and beyond, and willingness to participate constructively towards the solution of these University challenges.
An experience in conducting social science research, public speaking and presenting research in national conferences.
A clear publication record in accredited journals will also be an added advantage.
Key Responsibilities for lectureship positions
The successful applicant will assume the following responsibilities:
Deliver lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
Design, prepare, and develop teaching materials.
Assess student’s coursework.
Engage in research and publication.
Supervise post-graduate students’ research activities.
Supervising students practicum in Film and Television Studies
Communication with related stakeholders
