Standard Minimum QualificationEducation: Advanced University degree in International Affairs, Economics, Nutrition/Health, Agriculture, Environmental Science, Social Sciences or other field relevant to international development assistance, or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses.
Language: International Professional: Fluency (level C) in English language.
Intermediate knowledge (level B) of a second official UN language: Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, Spanish, and/or WFP’s working language, Portuguese.
Job Purpose
Under the direct supervision of the Head of Emergency Response Unit, the candidate will be responsible for organizing, preparing for and leading field mission deployments to carry out large scale registrations, general food distributions (GFDs), rapid assesments and other related emergency response activities, including deploying in emergency surge capacity to support WFP Sub Offices.
Key Accountabilities
Ensure all mission specific reporting including narrative and distribution reports are prepared and submitted to relevant WFP Units as required.
Ensure all operational procedures, communications protocols are observed.
Manage all administrative duties and ensure that mission expenses in the field are in accordance WFP Financial Rules and Regulations and completed and all financial acquittals at the termination of each mission.
Research and analyse policy and operational issues to support senior colleagues in the
development of policies, programmes and activities.
Support the capacity building of WFP staff and partners to prepare for and respond to food assistance needs.
Provide guidance to support staff, acting as a point of referral and assisting them with analysis and queries.
Carry out any other Official business assigned to you by the Head of Emergency Response Unit.

Desired Experience for Entry into the Role
Has gained experience in implementing technical programs (i.e. nutrition, etc.).
Has implemented programmes and provided input into designing operations.
Has provided input into policy discussions and decisions.
Substantial experience in emergy and deep field operations, preferably in hardship duty stations.
Experience in complex security enviroments, with proven ability to carry out risk assessments, implement risk mitigation measures and manage field level security coordination
Has experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in complex field environments
Has participated in a large-scale emergency or development programmes
Has experience working across the program portfolio areas including FSL/SCOPE/VAM/Nutrition.
Is able to work under extreme pressure, in rapidly changing enviloments
Is willing to regularly travel and stay in deep field locations with very difficult living conditions for extended periods of time (10-20 day missions, in the field 50-70% of the time).
