Responsibilities

  • Assist with compiling information and undertake research on policy issues in relation to the economic, social and sustainable dimensions of urbanization, such as the linkages of urbanization and industrialization; energy; climate change; trade; gender; statistics, innovation; urban and rural linkages and; inclusive cities.
  • Support data collection activities
  • Undertake desk review of bibliographies for the section's reports and peer review documents
  • Assist with organizing and convening meetings, including attending to all relevant preparations
  • Perform other duties as might be assigned by the supervisor.

    Responsibilities

  • Assist in the review and finalization of reports and other publications in the areas of work of the African Center for Gender(ACG);
  • Contribute to research in the thematic area of focus of ACG;
  • Contribute to policy briefs;
  • Support the organization of meetings and events;
  • Assist with knowledge management and outreach activities;
  • Participate in day-to-day operational tasks of the Center. This may include servicing requests for information; support for developing presentations; liaison with partner organizations, communication pieces of the ACG, etc.;
  • Perform administrative tasks as assigned.

    selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications;
  • Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter; and
  • Have a demonstrated ability to successfully interact with individuals of different cultural backgrounds and beliefs, which include willingness to try and understand and be tolerant of differing opinions and views.

    United Nations Statistics Paid Internships in Ethiopia

    Responsibilities

  • Collects, evaluates, interprets and analyses data and information on areas including but not limited to regional integration, trade, industrialization and statistical development.
  • Prepares briefing notes, inputs to speeches and other presentation materials on the issues under the incumbent's assignments in a form that is meaningful to non-specialists;
  • Prepares first drafts of sector, country or regional components of analytical studies on development issues and policies.
  • Assists in developing training material and the organization of expert group meetings, seminars, workshops and training course.
  • Prepares inputs for relevant technical papers and policy reports to the Economic Commission for Africa Committees of relevant intergovernmental meetings and bodies.
  • Follows intergovernmental meetings and prepares summary reports.
  • Assists in the organization of panels, round tables etc. on issues under his/her responsibilities for inter-governmental processes.
  • Compiles and analyses technical cooperation and capacity building needs of countries, and identifies ways ECA can assist member countries.
  • Prepares documentation for technical cooperation programmes and projects related to areas of work.
  • Contributes to the preparation of material for the approval of regional, country or sector technical cooperation projects.
  • Performs other related duties as required, including a variety of administrative tasks necessary for the final delivery of the work unit's services.
  • Undertakes on-the-job and other training activities, both internally and externally.
