Org. Setting and ReportingThe United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON) is the UN headquarters in Africa and the Director-General of UNON is the representative of the Secretary-General in Kenya.
UNON supports programme implementation of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) and the Resident Coordination System (RCS) globally, as well as other UN offices in Kenya, by providing administrative, security, conference and information services (www.unon.org).
This post is located in the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), Central Support Services (CSS), Facilities Management and Transportation Section (FMTS). Under the direct supervision of the Senior Logistics Assistant and general supervision of the Chief, Facilities Management and Transportation Section (FMTS), the incumbent will perform the following duties:
Responsibilities• Drives officials and authorized UN staff to and from various destinations in and around Nairobi.
• Responsible for day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle including cleanliness, checks on fuel, water, battery, brakes, engine oil, etc. and inform the Senior Logistics Assistant of any defects to the vehicle.
• Records all trip-details in the vehicle movement log sheet, fuel consumption, defects noted, tire condition, vehicle tools and other particulars, report when vehicle is due for scheduled service, etc. and ensure that the relevant documents such as insurance are valid.
• Adheres to the rules and regulations of the Kenya Highway Code and takes prompt action in the event of an accident.
• Collects and delivers documents as required.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

EducationCompletion of high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Passing the Global General Service Test (GGST) is a prerequisite for recruitment consideration in the General Services and related categories in the United Nations Secretariat.
Successful passing of the Administrative Support Assessment Test (ASAT) in English at the United Nations Headquarters (UNHQ), Economic Commission for Africa (ECA), Economic and Social Commission for Eastern Asia (ESCWA), United Nations Office at Geneva.
Work Experience
A minimum of one (1) year of progressive responsible experience in driving is required.
Experience in Kenya Government motor vehicle related processes and procedures is desirable.
Experience in applying the Kenya Highway Code is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of another official United Nations language is an advantage.
