Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the Committees and Boards Unit of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan, Juba.
Juba classified in the "E" category and as a non-family duty station.
The Claims Officer will report to the Senior Administrative Officer, in the Office of the DMS .
Responsibilities
Within limited delegated authority, the incumbent will be responsible for administrative matters relating to maintaining the Secretariat of the Local Property Survey Board (LPSB) and Claims Review Board (CRB) of the mission;
Reviews supporting documents attached to claims, e. g., invoices, Receiving and Inspection Reports, PT.8's Board of Inquiry reports and Letters of Assist to verify accuracy and reasonableness while ensuring that UN Rules and Regulations and financial authorities are complied with;
Reviews all claims for death and disability benefits; Evaluates Claims reports in connection with national legislation under which the entitlement is claimed, casualty reports from missions, medical reports, and death or disability certificates.
Reviews, investigates, and collects additional information on third party compensation claims arising from traffic accidents involving uninsured UN-Vehicles and claims arising from UN occupancy of premises, and other evidences concerning traffic accidents to facilitate a determination on the responsibility of the organization;
Coordinates and reviews the work of the Unit staff involved in routine claims verification and processing, providing guidance, basic interpretations of policies, and training as needed to ensure timely and accurate processing;
Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, finance, accounting, law or related area.
A first-level university degree in combination with qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
At least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in Claims or Compensation Administration, Public or Business Administration, Finance, Legal or related field.
Relevant experience at the United Nations or any other international organisation is desirable.
Languages
The working languages of the UN Secretariat are English or French. For this position fluency in English (both oral and written) is required.
Assessment
Evaluation of qualified candidates may include an informal interview.

Org. Setting and Reporting
This position is located in the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), Juba.
Juba classified in the "E" category and as a non-family duty station This position is located in the Human Resource Management Service (HRMS) and will report to the Chief Human Resource Office (CHRO).
Responsibilities
Collaborates with senior mission leaders in identifying special-to-mission individual or collective training requirements and ensuring that a comprehensive Mission Training Plan is developed, has the appropriate resources allocated, and is implemented;
Coordinates the preparation of an annual Mission Training Plan that addresses special-to-mission training needs and the priority strategic and job-specific and technical training priorities transmitted from Headquarters, while minimizing duplication;
Ensures that the Mission Training Plan is prepared in conjunction with other mission planning documents including the Mission Concept and the Results-Based Budget (RBB);
Coordinates the preparation and implementation of the mission training budget in accordance with the Mission Training Plan, ensuring that resources are allocated appropriately so that training is cost-effective and has the maximum operational impact;
Education
Advanced university degree (Masters degree or equivalent), preferably in training and development, management, public or business administration, or a related area such as education or social science.
A first-level university degree in combination with two (2) years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in human resource development, adult learning or training is required.
A minimum of four (4) years in team leadership positions and experience in the practical delivery of training is required. Experience working in a multi-cultural and/or international work environment and or a field mission is desirable.
Experience in a United Nations peacekeeping mission is desirable. Previous experience with outsourcing of services is an asset. Experience in Transitional training is desired.
Languages
English and French are the working Languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
For the post advertised, fluency in English (oral and written) is required.
