Org. Setting and ReportingThe DOA/HRSS/BEU internship is for four months with an opportunity for extension,pending on the needs of the department. The internship will be situated within Business Excellence Unit (BEU) and Strategy and Information Management Unit (SIMU) in DOA/HRSS/BEU. The team seeks an intern to provide support in building a web application solution. The internship is UNPAID and can be part-time or full-time. Interns work two to five days per week (15-35 hours) under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned.
ResponsibilitiesAssistance in drafting and preparing official documents
Attending and summarizing meetings
Working on web-presentations
Compiling statistics
Generating a variety of statistical and other reports, work orders, etc, using various databases in Excel and SAP. Performing data entry and extraction functions.
Assist in on-going projects for the designing and developing web-based database and forms
Assist in IT-related projects including preparing and analyzing administrative related matter,
Update and monitor central project files
Provides logistics and administrative support to trainers.
Performs day to day administrative tasks at the Career Resource Center:
Records Keeping,
Undertakes research on a range of HR related issues and assists in the preparation of notes/reports.
Operates a variety of office equipment in the performance of basic office functions, e.g. photocopier, printer, scanner, etc.
Perform other related administrative duties and ad hoc specialized services covering all administrative areas (human resources.etc) as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements:
(a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
(b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or
(c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation;
Be computer literate in standard software applications.
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the UN internship programme.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship.

The Population and Youth Section (PYS) within the Social Development Policy Division (SDPD) is offering an internship for three (3) months with an opportunity for extension, pending the needs of the Division. The internship is UNPAID and full time. Interns work five days per week under the supervision of a staff member in the department or office to which they are assigned. The Internship is located in the PYS of the SDPD at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa. The UNECA is mandated to promote the economic and social development of its member States, foster intra-regional integration, and promote international cooperation for Africa's development. Responsibilities
The SDPD consist of three sections, namely: Social Protection Section; Population and Youth Section and Urbanization Section and one center, African Centre for Gender. The Population and Youth Section works towards enhancing the policy and strategic approaches of member states to integrate demographic changes and emerging population and youth issues into development policies and programmes, at both
the national and regional levels.
The focus of this internship will be to assist the Population and Youth Section in its work on the Demographic Dividend, Age Structural Transition and Gender Dividend.
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of the Population and Youth Section and within delegated authority, the intern will carry out the following tasks.
Assist with compiling information and undertake research on policy issues in relation to population issues including the policy/normative framework as well as issues such as demographic dividend, demographic transitions, determinants and consequences of population trends
Support data collection activities
Undertake desk review of bibliographies for the section's reports and proof read documents
Assist with organizing and convening meetings, including attending to all relevant preparations.
Perform other duties as might be assigned by the Chief of Section.
Qualifications
To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation; Be computer literate in standard software applications; Have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations and have a personal commitment to the ideals of the Charter;
Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the programme.
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in English (both oral and written) is required for the Internship Programme. Knowledge of another official UN language is an asset.
