United Nations Intern Administration Internships in Kenya


Responsibilities

  • Daily responsibilities will depend on the individual's background; the intern's assigned office as well as the internship period..
    Under the overall supervision of the Chief of the respective units in BFMs, and the direct supervision of the Team Leaders, the BFMS Interns will assist/support in:
  • Accounts Services Unit: Record inter-office voucher expenditures incurred by UNDP on behalf of UNON, UNEP and UN-HABITAT, Adjustments in Umoja, analysis and reconciliation of ledgers, General office administrative tasks and other tasks that may be assigned.
  • Financial Services Unit: Inform Payees of claims status, maintain statistics to monitor performance and whenever possible, client satisfaction, process DSA/Advances, Hand Carried DSA, invoices, vendor statements and other payment requests. General office administrative tasks and other tasks that may be assigned.
  • Treasury: Deliver cheques and documents for signature by authorized signatory panel, take minutes, manage TSU library and delivery book, sorting and dispatching of receipts to UNEP and UN-HABITAT, cheque preparation and documentation, bank reconciliation, General office administrative tasks and any other tasks that may be assigned.
  • Payroll Unit (Unit Staff Pay and Benefits): Review of payroll simulation output, analysis of general ledgers, monitoring of staff receivables/payables. General office administrative tasks and any other tasks that may be assigned.
  • Budget Section: Assist in monitoring of applying of deposits, follow up on receivables etc. General office administrative tasks and any other tasks that may be assigned.

  • Education; Applicants must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements:
  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within
    a one-year period of graduation.
  • Be computer literate in standard software applications.

    United Nations Intern Programme Management Internships in Kenya

    Responsibilities

  • Assist in yearend closure procedures
  • Prepare monthly financial reports to substantive officers
  • Update UNOPS consultants schedule
  • Ensure all projects are correctly entered in PAAS and that grant and fund values in PAAs reflect a true picture of the branch
  • Maintenance of project documents both in the system and in the files
  • Assist in monitoring budget implementation
  • Prepare interim and final financial reports for donors
  • Prepare any other necessary reports for the branch
