Under the guidance and general supervision of the Chief of Education (Level 5), the Specialist supports the following:
Write and produce analytical donor reports and proposals for the education section.
Work closely with key line Managers and education staffs to analyze and track the progress of indicators as per donor proposals.
Support key line Managers for donor reporting based on information gathered from programme sections and zonal offices in terms of drafting the reports.
Develop and maintain a filing system for donor reports and proposals for the education section.
Support for donor engagement through a) organization of donor meetings including drafting minutes and support the preparation of presentations.
Work closely with Resource Mobilization team to ensure the high quality of donor reports and proposals.
Liaise with communication section and field focal points for adequate donor and UNICEF visibility.
The Specialist contributes to the achievement of results according to plans, allocation results from based-management approaches and methodology (RBM), as well as UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance, and accountability framework.
The incumbent is expected to undertake 2 field visits per quarter and spend 15% of their time in Field locations
How can you make a difference
Donor reporting activities
Drafting and editing of donor reports as well as development and quality control of donor proposals for the education section including a compilation of information, editing, and layout.
The Reports Specialist will assist with all donor reports and proposals the section is dealing with, however, the main focus of reporting activities will be on reporting on a USAID funded Education programme which requires specialized and detailed reporting on a bi-weekly and quarterly basis.
Support section in putting in place a system to collect and consolidate field data on results achieved by partners.
Liaise closely with Resource Mobilisation team which is responsible for overall quality assurance of donor reports and proposals, ensure in particular that deadlines are met.
Donor engagement activities
Collaborate with other staff to organize donor meetings, in
particular, bi-weekly meetings with USAID.
This will include preparing PPTs, attendance sheets, etc.
Filing and archiving of donor agreements, donor proposals and reports for the education section.
Perform other related duties as required by the supervisor and/or management.
Networking and partnership building
Build and sustain effective close working partnerships with relevant government counterparts, national stakeholders, global partners, donors, and academia through active networking, advocacy, and effective communication to build capacity, exchange knowledge/expertise and to reinforce cooperation to achieve sustainable and broad results on education programmes.
Prepare communication and information materials for CO programme advocacy to promote awareness, establish partnerships and support fundraising for education programmes.
Participate and/or represent UNICEF in appropriate inter-agency (UNCT) discussions on education and related issues to collaborate with inter-agency partners/colleagues on UNDAF planning and preparation of programmes/projects ensuring organizational position, interests and priorities are fully considered and integrated with the UNDAF process in development planning and agenda setting.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
An advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in one of the following fields is required: communication, education, psychology, sociology or another relevant technical field.
A minimum of 5 five years of relevant professional experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education is required.
Experience working in a developing country is considered as an asset.
Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is considered as an asset
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.
