How can you make a difference?

Since the inception of the Private Fundraising and Partnerships (PFP) Africa Regional Support Center (RSC) in 2014, UNICEF has developed regional and national level strategies for strong growth in partnerships and engagement with the private sector across the Eastern and Southern Africa region (ESAR).

These strategies are in line with the UNICEF global private sector strategy, and contextualized for the African environment.

Major duties and responsibilities

  • Initiate new Regional Partnerships – In close collaboration with the UNICEF global Private Sector Fundraising team and technical units in the Regional Office, to support in the development of new regional partnerships, including prospect research, networking, and exploratory meetings with potential major partners.
  • Steward existing Regional Partnerships – to steward existing regional partnerships with business, including regional reporting and primary relationship management, with the goal of expanding and/or renewing appropriate partnerships.
  • Build and strengthen capacity – to provide support to COs and Regional Office technical units on developing strategies for engagement with international and local business, including direct support to specific partners as requested. As well, to contribute content and support to private sector capacity building through CO missions and to major private sector trainings in the region.
  • Support partnership knowledge
    management – to support knowledge management initiatives on partnership management between various UNICEF in-house entities, ESARO and the Country Offices.
  • Provide CO backstopping support and other related tasks that contribute to larger partnership team objectives to ensure an integrated approach.

    To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
  • An advanced university degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Economics, Marketing, Fundraising or other related fields is required.
  • A minimum of 5 five years of relevant work experience in private sector partnerships and fundraising is required, of which a minimum of three years in working with companies and foundations is desired.
  • Experience developing shared-value partnerships also a plus.
  • Work experience within an international organization is required; work experience in Africa is an advantage.
  • Work experience with UNICEF is an advantage.
  • Experience in both development and humanitarian contexts is an added advantage.
  • Fluency in English is required. Working knowledge of another official UN language, preferably French, an asset.
