How can you make a difference?
The TA Education Specialist (ADAP/secondary age education) reports to the Education Specialist/ADAP manager for general guidance and direction.
The specialist supports the ADAP manager in education programming for the second decade, contributing to knowledge development/innovation and developing and preparing education programmes/projects.
The Specialist provides authoritative technical guidance/operational support throughout all stages of programming to facilitate the management and delivery of results on strengthening national systems to improve education outcomes for adolescents through formal and non-formal pathways, especially for adolescents who are marginalized, disadvantaged and excluded in society.
The Specialist contributes to achievement of sustainable and scalable results on adolescent education related programmes/projects according to plans, allocations, results-based management approaches and methodology (RBM) and UNICEF’s Strategic Plans, standards of performance and accountability framework.
More specifically, the incumbent will be accountable for ensuring high quality planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting for UNICEF’s education interventions under a joint programming initiative with UNHCR, ILO, IFC and the World Bank in refugee hosting districts in Uganda and, following successful fundraising, similar programmes in other districts of Uganda.
In the execution of this role, support to colleagues (including through capacity building) is a key component.
The incumbent will provide technical assistance/advice to colleagues on all aspects of programming and implementation to enable colleagues to achieve program/performance objectives.
He/she will provide advice to the ADAP manager in establishing the annual work plans including developing strategies and determining priorities/targets and performance measurements.
He/she will coordinate work progress monitoring and ensure results are achieved according to schedule and performance standards and report critical issues for timely action. He/she will perform the full duties of the ADAP manager in his/her absence.
