UNICEF Regional Adviser Jobs Vacancies in Kenya

Functions/Accountabilities:Leverage resources for Regional ECD initiatives, policies, strategies and implementation plans based on globally acknowledged scientific evidence
Ensure that a young child's holistic development is fully integrated into global strategic plans, across programmes in ESARO, Country Programme Documents and UNDAF with measurable progress indicators and M&E plans,
Provide technical leadership through clear and timely guidance and follow up with field offices as to ensure the effective implementation of ECD interventions, including by taking innovations to scale
Provide effective and efficient management of ECD programmes and projects, including cross-sectoral collaboration
Ensuring that the regional Office Management Plan fully reflects global, regional and CO priorities in ECD.
Proving quality assurance support to programming around ECD in terms of programme design and monitoring to ensure global, regional and CO objectives are met.
Providing guidance on general ECD policy and strategies.
Supporting recruitment and identifying the human resource support required for effective programme delivery.
Managing evidence and the analysis of programming in Early Childhood Development, and related areas, through documentation, annual reporting and assessment of best practices.
Coordinating the effective dissemination of best practices, ensuring knowledge management.
Qualifications
Advanced university degree or equivalent backgrounds, in Human Resources, Business Administration, International Relations, Social Sciences, Psychology or related areas.
A minimum of Ten (10) years of relevant professional work experience in Developing country work experience (for IP) or field work experience (for NO).
Background/familiarity with emergency and relevant professional experience in Developing country work experience is considered an asset.
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

UNICEF KCO Strategic Moment of Reflection (SMR)
Specific Tasks
Ensure the flow of the programme during the event, time keeping, engaging participants, etc.
Lead and provide expert input on specific sessions of the SMR
Provide a brief post-SMR synopsis of the process and outputs to share in a debriefing session
Work closely with the rapporteurs to ensure that the final report of the SMR captures all discussions and recommendations
Expected Deliverables
Finalized agenda including detailed methodology of individual sessions
Successful conduct and facilitation of the SMR
Post-SMR synopsis produced and shared within 3 working days after the workshop
Supervision
The consultant will work under the overall guidance and supervision of Deputy Representative
Duration of Assignment
It is expected that the entire assignment will be undertaken over a period of 5 working days as detailed below:
Preparation: 1 day
SMR facilitation: 3 days
De-briefing & SMR report review: 1 day
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree in development studies, international relations, management or other relevant qualification
At least 7-10 years of work experience in the field of development with a focus on facilitating
workshops
Demonstrated experience moderating high level meetings of culturally diverse and international groups
Demonstrated prior experience working with UNICEF, understanding of UNICEF planning methodology agencies and/or the government will be an added advantage
Results oriented with strong organizational skills
Excellent command of spoken and written English

How can you make a difference?
You can make a difference by supporting the education section in ongoing curriculum reform, program planning, implementation and monitoring, roll out CFS initiatives and sensitization of partners at county level in measuring learning achievement.
Sectoral work plan development, implementation and monitoring, Contribute on preparation of Situation analysis by compiling, analysing and evaluation information on trends in the areas of OOSC/ CFS/PBEA/ DRR, focusing on nomadic, children with special needs, girls, adolescents and children affected by conflicts and advocate for the Right based Programming. Collaborate across the program to ensure gender mainstreaming.
Programme planning, development and management leadership. Provide evidence based guidance and inputs to government on policy standards and strategic development and monitoring to achieve universalization of Education.
Communication, collaboration, networking and partnership. Prepare programme status reports required for advocacy and strategic input in government policy, donors and other external agencies.
Coordinate and provide technical support to the ongoing curriculum reform. Knowledge management effectively promoted through drafting/ finalizing key Education sectoral program documents and reports, sharing good practices, lessons learned, and information with partners and other collaborative stakeholder, capitalizing on the know- how and network of knowledge institution.
Collect and analysis of the data for situation analysis, education planning management, monitoring and evaluation purpose. Analyse the programme implementation reports and evaluate against the established programme recommendations and Rolling Work Plans.
To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…
Completion of a basic degree in Education, economics, social science and related technical field.
A minimum of 3 of relevant professional experience in the same.
Knowledge on SDG, MTP III, EFA, CFS, CRC, Assessment of leaning achievements and other education related reforms are desirable.
Fluency in English and Kiswahili. Knowledge of another local language is an asset.
