UNICEF Communication Officer Jobs in Kenya
Goal and Objective: Under the supervision of the Chief of Communication, Advocacy and Partnerships the consultant will:
ResponsibilitiesAdvise on maintenance of social media outlets
Assist in event planning, campaign management, and content creation each month leading up to the big event of 20 November- World Children's Day
Create a new component of Youth Advocacy in every element of each event highlighting youth as the next generation of UNICEF advocates
Organise discussions with UNICEF experts, NGO's and Youth to advocate.
Increase regular communication with partners or donors, including regular updates and project summaries, in alignment with visibility requirements.
Write funding proposals, outreach and awareness pieces, social media content, publications, as well as summaries of technical reports
Develop, create and design communications materials for messaging both within the UN and externally
Work relationships: The consultant will be required to work with a variety of parties involved in the assignment and will need to develop positive working relationships with partners, stakeholders, and UNICEF staff.
Outputs/Deliverables:
Master's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Humanities or equivalent/relevant professional experience combined with a university degree in a related field
Specialist skills/Training:
Proven experience in developing communication strategies
Work experience in a professional capacity in Events, Production, Communications or Public Relations.
Evidence of high levels of quality and productivity
Proven experience in professional writing
General ability to draft ideas and concepts, clearly and concisely, in written and oral form; specific skills in writing press releases and articles/stories for traditional and electronic media
Proven ability to research, analyse, evaluate
and synthesize information
Strong planning and organisational skills
Solid media contacts and the knowledge of current theories and practices in communication research, and the role of mass media
Proven ability to work as part of a team and have a strong understanding of UNICEF programmes
Knowledge of computer systems, internet navigation and various office applications, specifically interactive digital media
Demonstrated ability to work in a multicultural environment and establish harmonious and effective working relationships, both within and outside the organization
Years of experience
A minimum of five years’ relevant professional work experience in communication, event planning, media relations or interactive digital media
