UNHCR Senior Data Management Assistant – Moyo Jobs in Uganda

Organizational Context

Located in Obongi District, in the West Nile sub-region of Uganda, Palorinya Refugee Settlement has a population of close to 123,000 registered refugees mostly from South Sudan The Settlement was established in December 2016 during the mass influx of refugees from South Sudan.

Palorinya Settlement is in the humanitarian-peacebuilding-development nexus as the Obongi District Local Government, Office of the Prime Minister and partners strive to build resilience of refugees and host communities. The ongoing refugee response, however, remains largely focused on providing humanitarian assistance.

A concerted effort is needed to harmonize approaches towards achieving common goals in support of Government-led guided community driven development and area-based approaches through direct implementation, cash-based initiatives—including monetization of assistance—and community-led interventions.

Uganda adopts an open-door policy to refugees and currently hosts an estimated 1.4 million, as Africa’s leading refugee-hosting country.

Refugees are included in the national development plan III, one of the policy actions called for in the New York Declaration.

Functional Statement

Enter data mainly related to asylum seekers, refugees and other persons of concern to UNHCR into the

computer database.

Prepare reports and project documents by providing information, preparing tables and drafting routine correspondence and reports.

Assist in compilation of data and interpreting the statistics for various reports.

Assist in the development of forms for data collection and analysis, if requested.

Act as interpreter in the exchange of routine information and translate routine documents and correspondence as and when required.

May be required to collect GIS data, update maps and undertake field trips to project sites.

Perform any other duty, as requested
