UNHCR Livelihoods Associate Jobs in Kenya
All UNHCR staff members are accountable to perform their duties as reflected in their job description. They do so within their delegated authorities, in line with the regulatory framework of UNHCR which includes the UN Charter, UN Staff Regulations and Rules, UNHCR Policies and Administrative Instructions as well as relevant accountability frameworks.
In addition, staff members are required to discharge their responsibilities in a manner consistent with the core, functional, cross-functional and managerial competencies and UNHCR�s core values of professionalism, integrity and respect for diversity.
Responsibilities
Contribute to the implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the livelihoods strategy and related programmes. Strategies should drive towards empowerment of the various refugee and local groups and improve access to basic rights in the area of livelihoods (vocational training,micro-credit, financial assistance, job placements, climate smart agriculture,business licences etc.).
Support staff and partners in reporting.
Support staff in developing concept notes.
Support in coordination and management of the artisan sector (MADE51 www.MADE51.ORG ). Follow-up with suppliers and with refugee artisans. Manage the stock with partners/refugees and assist in developing management tools for the artisan project. Coordinate the online market platform. Follow up closely with the social-enterprises and implementing partners on the on-going projects.
Coordinate with MADE51 team based in Geneva.
Assist the staff in documenting success stories.
Participate in updating, implementation and monitoring of livelihoods related documents.
Assist in building relationship with social-enterprises.
Support staff in developing tools for
referrals.
Assist in the capacity building of partners.
Support the staff with innovative ideas.
Support the unit in the coordination of the livelihoods activities.
Support the unit with the collection and analysis of livelihoods data.
Support the unit and the implementing partner with the mainstreaming of LGBTI in the livelihoods program.
Support the livelihoods team, in the coordination with community-based protection unit for all related community-based projects i.e. community outreach, community-based organisations etc.
Technical support missions to Kakuma and Dadaab on needs basis.
Requirements
Bachelors degree in social science, business management or any related studies.
Minimum of 3 years experience preferably with refugees in social-work, community work, entrepreneurship,micro-enterprises, private sector, social enterprise, business development.
Excellent communicator with strong interpersonal skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple tasks.
Proven ability to manage teams.
Fluency in English, including excellent drafting skills.
